Weekly Wrap Up #406

Posted March 31, 2024 by Carole in Stacking the Shelves / 11 Comments

I am really excited to participate in The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Reading Reality.

My Life

You may remember from last week that I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago. I decided to get an X-ray last Sunday and was able to confirm that it was just a bad sprain. My foot has been a kaleidoscope of colors this week and my ankle is still very swollen. The store manager at the bookstore took me off the schedule on Wednesday so I was able to stay off my feet for a 4-day span which has made a huge difference. I have been wearing slippers with a rubber sole everywhere for 2 weeks because my feet have been too swollen to fit in my shoes, but I think that I can actually start wearing real shoes again.

I wish I could say that I accomplished a lot of other things since I was home more than usual but I was pretty unproductive. I have become invested in a game on my phone and spent way too many hours goofing off with that. Hopefully, I can get back in the swing of things soon.

How was your week?

What I’m Reading

I finished 2 books again this week and both are audiobooks. I know that I am reading more than a lot of people but I really feel like I am falling behind. I finished A Grave Robbery by Deanna Raybourn early in the week and fell in love with Stoker all over again (which I do with every book). I decided to ignore my pile of review books and picked up Stolen by Kelley Armstrong next and had a great time with the book.

I read a little more of The Night Ends with Fire by K.X. Song and it is really good. If I could just focus on reading, I would finish this one pretty quickly.

Books Added

Body Check by Elle Kennedy (Publisher); Leather & Lark by Brynne Weaver (Publisher); The Angel of Indian Lake by Stephen Graham Jones (Publisher)

The Good, the Bad, and the Aunties by Jesse Q. Sutanto (Publisher); Diavola by Jennifer Thorne (Publisher); The House on Biscayne Bay by Chanel Cleeton (Publisher)

  1. Glad to hear you’re on the mend and your ankle wasn’t overly serious! But still, ouch! Nice that B&N gave you another day off to heal some more! I’ve been pretty obsessed with a game on my phone as well! I play it too much on the weekend lol!

Nice new reads! These are new to me ones but I hope you enjoy them all!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

  2. I’m glad to hear it is not broken. I’m sorry it has been painful but I’m glad you are having a bit of a break. I was almost finished with March ARCs at the end of February, now I am reading books for this week! So I’m feeling behind. At least I have things I really want to read.

  3. I broke my ankle and then a few years later I sprained it with some ligament damage and honestly the sprain hurt way more. I’m glad you were able to stay off your feet for a bit and hopefully it is starting to feel better. Be extra careful for awhile because at least for me once I sprain something it feels extra weak for awhile. I really want to read the Aunties series by Sutano. It looks really fun. Have a great week!

  4. Glad your ankle is doing better and it was nice you got to rest it a few extra days. I managed to finish A Grave Robbery yesterday. I liked it more than the last book which was the first in the series I didn’t give 5/5. I also loved Stoker in this one (as I always do) but I find Veronica getting on my nerves more and more now. I also LOVE that Armstrong series and have read the whole thing.

  5. I’m so sorry about your ankle! I sometimes think sprains can be worse and take longer to heal than breaks. Hope you’re doing better and that you have a great week!

  6. I’m happy to hear it was just a sprain, and even more happy that you were able to rest it and are starting to get some relief!
