Weekly Wrap Up #407

I am really excited to participate in The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Reading Reality.

My Life

I hope that everyone who celebrates Easter had a good holiday last weekend. Our holiday was low key which is exactly the way I like it. (We had celebrated with my family the day before.) It was a pretty normal week overall. I am still dealing with my ankle and can’t wait until it is finally healed. I can’t believe I still have a swollen ankle 3 weeks after injuring it but that is exactly what I have. I am writing this after working a 7-hour shift on my feet at the bookstore and I have to admit that my ankle hurts. It is improving but the progress has been very slow.

How was your week?

What I’m Reading

This was another 2 audiobook week and they were both fantastic books, so I’ll take it! Funny Story by Emily Henry was amazing. I fell hard for the Hero, Miles, in this one, and Julia Whelan’s narration was stellar. It is no secret that I am a huge fan of Kelley Armstrong and her newest book in her Rip Through Time series, Disturbing the Dead was excellent. I love that the story took a turn I did not see coming and kept me on my toes.

I am not sure if I picked up The Night Ends with Fire by K.X. Song but I hope to get back to it very soon. I randomly picked up Leather & Lark by Brynne Weaver and am loving it. As I shared in my post on Thursday, I decided I needed to jump into Good Boy by Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy as soon as possible. I am in love with Blake and Jess!

Books Added

Buried Deep by Naomi Novik (Publisher); Hearts Still Beating by Brooke Archer (Publisher); Five Broken Blades by Mai Corland (Publisher)

  1. I hope you can get enough rest for that ankle to heal. Three weeks IS a long time. I am stalking my library for Funny Story. They already put the audio online for holds, but not the ebook. I must be vigilant. I was a fan of the Good Boy (duet?). I wish there had been more. It was a great world.

  2. Sorry to hear the ankle is still bad! But at least you’re able to walk around more without it being agonizing, that’s a plus! It’s giving me low key flashbacks to the times I had to be on crutches after leg surgeries. All the walking around with those things so I wouldn’t put pressure on my leg. I can’t imagine trying to walk around with pain that’s tender and sore like that. Glad you had a nice holiday too! Our gathering was really nice and was somewhat low key. We just had 2 of my cousins over and my sister and her troop! But with at least two little ones things were pretty crazy! Lol. It was fun watching them run around looking for their eggs! They were so cute too, every now and then they’d point one out to the other so their sibling could get collect it!

Nice new reads! I’ve seen these three around and was somewhat curious about them. I kind of put them on my back burner as books to watch for! Lol. Hope you enjoy them all once you get to read them!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

  3. I twisted my ankle a few years ago and it was slow to heal! I hope yours feels better soon, Carole. I’m looking forward to Funny Story and Disturbing the Dead as well. Have a good week, Carole!

  4. Give yourself some rest and a break when you can. I’m sorry you are still having pain. I love Emily Henry and Kelley Armstrong and will be reading those books. I debated about the Naomi Novik. It can be hard to review shorts so I might just read that one from the library.

  5. Yikes! Three weeks is a long time for a sore ankle, but its probably tough to give it all the rest and propped up that it needs, too. Hope that is better soon. Nice stack you were able to listen too. Yay you got a start on Good Boy. I liked that one.

    Have a good week, Carole!

  6. Twisted ankles seem to take forever to heal. I know mine did. I hope yours heals soon and starts to feel better. Ibuprofen helped a lot for me.

  7. I hope your ankle is completely healed soon, Carole. It probably doesn’t help when you have to be on it for work, but I know that can’t be helped. I am glad you enjoyed Disturbing the Dead and Funny Story. I would like to read both of those too. I hope you enjoy your reading and have a great week, Carole! Take care.

  8. Ankles take forever to heal and I hope yours is better soon. I need to try more Emily Henry. I ended up DNFing Happy Place but I know not everyone loved that one. Funny Story looks like it might work for me better. I hope you’re having a good week!
