I am really excited to participate in The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Reading Reality.
My Life
It was another busy week. We spent Sunday working on mulching the front flowerbed. It was a lot of work and I quickly remembered that I don’t like to sweat. I was off on Monday for Memorial Day from my full-time job but had to work a shift at the bookstore. It was kind of crazy how many people were at the store. What happened to BBQs to celebrate the holiday? I also worked Wednesday and Friday nights at the bookstore, making for some very long days. On the days I work both jobs, I leave the house at 7:30 am and don’t return until around 10:15 pm.
My husband and I went to an event at our local library. My husband works for the library and this event is the first at the new library branch that doesn’t officially open until early July. He likes country music so he was eager to see Darius Rucker there. I don’t really read celebrity memoirs but this one sounds interesting and it is rather short. We had a good time at the event and left with a signed book so I think it was a successful afternoon. We then stopped by my mom’s house and went to dinner with her. When we got home, we thought we would get the dogs’ walk in before the rain started but we weren’t fast enough and ended up getting soaked. Right now, I am surrounded by the smell of wet dog (x3).
How was your week?
What I’m Reading
This was a three-book week. Savor It by Tarah DeWitt was a great romance and I definitely want to read more of this author’s work. I devoured The Wren in the Holly Library by K.A. Linde. I had such a hard time putting this book down and I must say it was a great feeling. As I write this post, I haven’t quite finished Real Americans by Rachel Khong but I am very close and plan to finish before the clock strikes midnight.
I am still reading The Night Ends with Fire by K.X. Song. It’s good but I have been distracted. I have the audiobook so I might just start over from the beginning and listen to it.
Books Added
Shadowheart by Meg Gardiner (Publisher); The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst (Publisher); Dead Tired by Kat Ailes (Publisher)
Pitch Dark by Paul Doiron (Publisher); Life’s Too Short by Darius Rucker with Alan Eisenstock (Purchased)

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Sounds like a busy week! Oh! Is this our new SLCL HQ that you were at? I got my newsletter for August events and was super excited to see Maureen Johnson coming here. I had to look up the address because the name wasn’t familiar to me right away and then I saw it was in the HQ location!
Nice new reads! Some new to me ones but I am seeing a lot of promo for Durst’s lately! It sounds like an intriguing read for sure! I hope you enjoy all of your new reads!
Here’s my StS
Have a GREAT day!

I didn’t now the husband worked for the library. You all got quite the bookish family. I am not familiar with Rucker’s country music, but I loved Hootie and the Blowfish.
You work so much. I got the audio for The Night Ends with Fire so I’ll be listening to it in a couple weeks. I’m working through my June reads now.

I’ve enjoyed a couple Darius Rucker songs. Neat that you got to grab his memoir. Whew, yeah, you were busy with work last week and spreading mulch is definitely a sweaty job this time of the year.
Have a good week, Carole!
I see people bbqing around here for the holidays but you don’t hear about all that much anymore.
The library event sounds like fun, Carole. I am glad you were able to go. The Wren in the Holly Library sounds really good. Real Americans is on my wish list and I look forward to reading your thoughts on it. I hope you enjoy your week and upcoming reading!
I didn’t realize your husband works for the library. That explains the bookish activity going on in your house! Celebrity memoirs can be hit or miss for me too, but I do love a book event and signing.
