Weekly Wrap Up #428

I am really excited to participate in The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Reading Reality.

My Life

I learned a lot about fire remediation this week. The suite next door to my full time job caught fire overnight on Wednesday so my day at work on Thursday was more fun that you could possibly imagine. The firewall between the two suites did its job but everything in our office is covered is soot and the smell was almost overwhelming. I was there all day while firefighters, the building owner, and remediation teams were in and out. I only cleaned up my desk and the bathroom sink but it was amazing just how much soot was on everything. The rest of my life was pretty boring, which was a very good thing.

How was your week?

What I’m Reading

I only finished 2 books this week. Two is better than none so I am not complaining. The Summer Escape by Jill Shalvis was as good as I had expected. I just love this author’s writing. I read a good portion of the print book of Repeat After Me by Jessica Warman and was hooked so I downloaded the audiobook and finished in just a day. The book is weird but I really enjoyed.

Why am I reading so many books? I read a bit more of A Good Bad Boy by Margaret Wappler and am enjoying it so far. I started over from the beginning of The Hexologists by Josiah Bancroft and can’t wait to see how things will work out. I started A Mask of Flies by Matthew Lyons to listen to at work but work got crazy and I didn’t listen to as much as I would have hoped. I have been reading The Five Year Lie by Sarina Bowen during my breaks at the library and have quickly been hooked. I also read just a bit of A Sky Full of Dragons by Tiffany McDaniel and it seems to be a fun middle-grade novel.

Books Added

A Sky Full of Dragons by Tiffany McDaniel (Author); Kills Well with Others by Deanna Raybourn (Publisher); My Funny Demon Valentine by Aurora Ascher (Publisher)

Two Can Play by Ali Hazelwood (Publisher); An Academy of Liars by Alexis Henderson (Publisher); The Unmothers by Leslie J. Anderson (Publisher)

What books do you add to your shelves this week?

  1. I’m glad the rest of the week was mostly quiet. Jill Shalvis is one I have continuing reading everything even when I read somewhat less romance. I read more romance combined with things like mystery, UF or suspense, basically romance is not the whole story. OH a new Deanna Raybourn!

  2. Wow! I am glad you weren’t working when the fire broke out. That’s scary. Yes, two books are better than none, and I agree, Shalvis is always great.

  3. Yikes, a fire next office over is too close. Glad you weren’t there and are safe. Amazing how smoke and fire damage gets into and onto so much stuff. Quiet weeks are so nice. I’m hoping to get that new Deanna Raybourn, too.

    Have a good week, Carole!

  4. Sorry you had to deal with the impact of a fire, but glad you and your coworkers were all safe! We’ve had black mold cropping up in our stairwell at work, so it has the unbearable smell of bleach at the moment. I guess that’s better than mold though!

  5. Jill Shalvis books are the perfect reads for when I’m feeling busy and scattered. I’m looking forward to picking that one up. I’m looking forward to seeing what you think about the Deanna Raybourn book. I liked the first one but wasn’t sure how the series would continue. Glad the firewall did it’s job but definitely don’t envy you with the soot! I hope you’re having a great week!
