I am really excited to participate in The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Reading Reality.

My Life

This week felt rather busy but it wasn’t really out of the ordinary. My full-time job treated us to lunch to celebrate my work anniversary. I have officially been in my job for 11 years. I was in a weird frame of mind most evenings and had to force myself to write a few posts for the blog. I am sorry that I didn’t get around to visit!

When I took the library job, I agreed to work one Sunday per month. They only scheduled me for one Sunday shift for the last quarter of the year, and that day is today. The library is closing early so my shift will be very short, which is a very good thing. Without having Sunday off, I have to work 12 days in a row.

We had a bit of excitement Saturday night. I had to wait for the adrenaline to get out of my system before I could focus well enough to write this post. As soon as I got home from my shift at the library, my husband and I took our dogs for their daily walk. We walked our usual path and when we were a little more than halfway done, my husband noticed someone laying on their front porch. We could only see her lower half. I handed the dog I had off to my husband and went to investigate. When I got to the woman, I saw a pool of blood surrounding her head and called 911. I was able to get her to talk to me a bit and learned that she is 93 and on blood thinners, so it looked a bit worse than it probably was. We stayed until the ambulance came and took her to the hospital, and then I helped another neighbor clean the blood off of her porch. She had been lying there bleeding for a while which made me sad. I am so glad that my husband saw that something didn’t look right and we were able to help.

How was your week?

What I’m Reading

I finished 4 books again this week. I don’t know what I would do without audiobooks! I have had a lot of luck with Erin Hahn’s work over the years and Catch and Keep kept that trend going. I had pre-ordered the Graphic Audio edition of Bound Bound by Patricia Briggs and enjoyed experiencing the story again (I think this was my third time reading the book). I decided to grab a copy of the audiobook of Haunted to Death by Frank Anthony Polito and feel like this book was an excellent addition to the series. Next up was Dating & Dismemberment by A.L. Brody which was a fun monster rom-com.

I am still working on The Hexologists by Josiah Bancroft. This time I am reading it with my eyes and am enjoying it.

Books Added

The Last One by Rachel Howzell Hall (Publisher); The Starving Saints by Caitlin Starling (Publisher); The Bloodless Princes by Charlotte Bond (Publisher)

The Glutton by A.K. Blakemore (Publisher); Idle Grounds by Krystelle Bamford (Publisher); Wooing the Witch Queen by Stephanie Burgis (Publisher)

  1. Oh wow, 12 days in a row?! That’s insane, but at least the library closes early today for you! And oh wow! That’s so scary about find that injured woman! Glad you were able to help out!

Nice new reads! These are all new to me ones! I hope you enjoy each and every one of them!

  2. That 12 days in a row is tough, even with short days. When I worked in the pharmacy they tried that on me having me come in for 4-6 hours every day but still less than 30 hours a week so I couldn’t get health insurance. It was a crappy schedule. Actually, most of the schedules were crappy which is why I quit along with low pay, even though I felt the work was important. But I couldn’t do it as it was only about $12,000 a year. I mean, I have a master’s degree and made big money before I “retired.” I did the pharmacy thing because it was interesting and important to help people who aren’t feeling well. Take care of yourself! I don’t know how I managed before audiobooks. It doubles my reading time.

  3. Thank goodness you noticed that woman! I hope she is ok. I loved Catch and Keep. It was perfect and such a great, feel-good story.

  4. Sorry your week felt so busy, and for having to work on Sunday, too! You need a day off every week just to catch your breath…at least I do. And that’s so lucky that you were there to help your neighbor who had fallen and get her help. Getting old is not fun. Wishing you a good week this week. 😀

  5. What a scary situation with your neighbor and I’m so glad you and your husband were there to help. I’m glad your library shift was short because 12 days in a row is intense! I hope you’re having a wonderful week!
