Weekly Wrap Up #435

I am really excited to participate in The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Reading Reality.

My Life

I was looking forward to this week. The election would finally be over and I would get to work from home for part of the week. Things didn’t go exactly the way that I had hoped it would. I was able to vote on Tuesday without dealing with any long lines. When I got up on Wednesday morning and saw the results, I was (and still am) incredibly disappointed.

Wednesday was also the first day of my week of working from home so I decided to start the day with a load of laundry to take full advantage of being home. I got about halfway down the stairs before I heard water. I turned out the lights to find water coming into my basement. We have lived in this house for 4 years and have not had any issues with water before. The water was coming in everywhere. Our basement is finished so we have had to cut away a lot of the drywall to give everything a chance to dry. Thank goodness my husband was able to come home and help me get things under control because I couldn’t clean up the water fast enough. I guess I will have to get someone out to give us a quote for waterproofing our basement.

In (hopefully) better news, I had my interview for the full-time library position this week and thought it went well. I have my fingers crossed that I hear good news this week.

How was your week?

What I’m Reading

I only finished 3 books this week. I got my hands on the audio of The Shadows Rule All by Abigail Owen and had a great time with the story. I am so glad that I finally listened to Tender Is the Flesh by Agustina Bazterrica and it ended up being a little different than I thought it would be. I hope that our society does get this bad. The Guilty One by Kiersten Modglin was a great listen with plenty of twists and turns to keep me guessing.

I am reading The Eyes Are the Best Part by Monika Kim. I have read about 20% of the book and am ready for the horror to kick in.

Books Added

Swordheart by T. Kingfisher (Publisher); Dying to Meet You by Sarina Bowen (Publisher); All the Missing Pieces by Catherine Cowles (Publisher)

The Duchess Takes it All by Michelle McLean (Publisher); Evocation by S.T. Gibson (Purchased); The Scholar and the Last Faerie Door by H.G. Parry (Publisher)

  1. Oh no! That’s dreadful about your house. Weird that with all the other rain we had the past 4 years nothing happened. Hopefully it will be an easy and affordable fix. Crossing my fingers for you for the job! That would be a fun one to have!

Nice new reads! I feel like Entangled has forgotten about me for certain series that I was getting review copies for. I forgot we’re finally getting close to The Shadow Rules All after all the release date changes, I half expected it to change again at the last minute! Definitely looking forward to how that series ends but I guess I’ll just wait for my preorder to arrive.

Hope you enjoy all of your new reads!

  2. Many of us are disappointed. I’m also apprehensive. I’m so sorry about the water; I’ve had my share of broken thing repairs this year and it is not fun. I hope the library job works out for you!

  3. I’m SO sorry about your flooded basement. It’s amazing how much damage water can do. Ugh. And I hope you get that full-time library job!!! Good luck this week with everything.

  4. Oh no about the water! It makes such a mess and is so hard to clean (and to stop from coming in). I hope the waterproofing goes smoothly. All the good vibes being sent you way for the library position. I hope you have a wonderful week!
