Stacking the Shelves #64

Posted April 8, 2017 by Carole in Stacking the Shelves / 28 Comments

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews.
It was a pretty quiet week at my house.  I actually got a lot accomplished in terms of reading.  My husband and I did lose a bit of sleep this week because we had dog scared of the spring storms on one night and our daughter was out late to go to a concert the next night.

Digital Books

I Need a Lifeguard Everywhere but the Pool by Lisa Scottoline & Francesca Serritella (NetGalley)
Royally Screwed by Emma Chase (Kindle Purchase)

I really enjoy Lisa Scottoline’s writing and these books that she writes with her daughter, Francesca Serritella, are a lot of fun.  I couldn’t resist the sale price on Royally Screwed and am looking forward to reading it.

Print Books

City of Miracles by Robert Jackson Bennett (Won – LibraryThing Early Reviewers)

I enjoyed the first book in this series and have the second one ready to read so I was thrilled to get my hands on a copy of the upcoming release.  I have actually had a lot of luck with the giveaways on LibraryThing and really appreciate the books that have made their way into my hands.

Audiobooks
Canniblism by Bill Schutt (Tantor Media via Audiobook Jukebox)

Yes, I requested this one.  I think this proves that I can find almost any topic interesting.  I listened to just a bit of it in the car during my commute and I am already fascinated.

  1. This week my haul features zombies, apocalypses, aliens and a killer dog! Speaking of dogs, I have great sympathy for yours as I don't much like storms either. I like the covers on the Divine Cities series and I'm seeing them on a few blogs. I think it might be too descriptive for me though!

  2. Nice new reads! Those are all new to me, hope you enjoy them all!

Yeah those storms earlier were rough! Woke me up one night and I tend to sleep through them most of the time! Lol.

My STS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!

    Have a GREAT day!

Cannibalism looks… interesting! Ha! I hope you enjoy your new books. 🙂

  4. I just one-clicked Royally Screwed about an hour ago. I have been wanting to read it for a while, since I really liked Chase's Legal Briefs series. I have heard great things, and am excited to read it.

  5. Yay for a quiet week and good reading time. Oh poor pooch! My mom's dog is that way about storms.

    Have a good week, Carole!

  6. I've been seeing the book Royally Screwed around everywhere lately. I haven't gotten to read anything from that author yet but everyone seems crazy about her books. Hope you love it!

    Have a great weekend!

  7. Well, you certainly have varied tastes in books! I have a LibraryThing account, but haven't really explored it yet. City Of Miracles does sound fun. Have a great week.

  8. I really want that Lifeguard book. I've read some of My Third Husband Will Be a Dog by them and it's awesome. Hmmm… maybe I should finish it. I feel your pain with the storms. Booker has to take Xanax when they get too bad. Even then we are still up with him.

  9. I am glad you were able to get in some reading this week, Carole. I feel like I barely cracked open a book. 🙁

I hope you enjoy your new books. I Need a Lifeguard Everywhere but the Pool sounds good. I haven't read any of the books she's written with her daughter yet. I like the cover of City Miracles! Looks like a good series. I think I might like Cannibalism too. I love odd books like that. LOL

I hope you have a great week, Carole!

  10. I think you mentioned City of Miracles on your blog before and started to look for them at Book Outlet. I never did order them, though. Looking forward to reading your thoughts on that one in particular.

Interesting book! I'm a bit squeamish so I typically leave those kind of topics to folks with stronger stomachs. Lol.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  11. Aw it's no fun when the storm roll through and the animals get scared. Glad it was a good reading week though! My reading picked up this week after a listless couple of weeks, so that was nice…

Cannibalism looks *gulp* kinda scary! Nature can be terrifying sometimes… 🙂

  12. City Miracles is such a beautiful cover! It's always nice to have those peaceful weeks with plenty of reading time – although lack of sleep is an issue!

  13. I'm glad you had a quiet week! Better than a terrible one. 😀 I saw that the Emma Chase book was on sale, and it got option for film? So cool. I hope you enjoy all of your new books!

Have a fantastic week, Carole. =)

  14. Awesome haul! I can't wait to hear your thoughts on Royally Screwed. I've read her other books, but still need to start this series.
Hope you guys got lots of sleep this week 😉 Yay for lots of reading! Happy reading!
