Stacking the Shelves #76

Posted July 1, 2017 by Carole in Stacking the Shelves / 23 Comments

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality
Can someone please tell me how it can already be July?  Time is really flying by this year.  This has been a pretty busy week and I apologize for falling behind with getting around to many blogs this week.  Last Saturday, we drove to Bloomington, Indiana to see my daughter’s concert and bring her home from a week at camp.  We got home around 7 in the evening and had to have her at drum major camp by noon the next day.  She just returned from that camp on Wednesday night. I don’t know about her but I am exhausted.  I ended the week with some pretty bad headaches so it is no wonder I am falling behind.

I am on vacation this week and am so ready for a bit of a break and a chance to catch up with a few things.  We don’t have any big plans but I am just excited to get the chance to stay home from work.

I hope that all of my U.S. readers have a happy and safe 4th of July this week!

Digital Books

The Hunt by Chloe Neill (NetGalley)
The Bourbon Kings by J.R. Ward (Kindle Purchase)

I enjoyed the first two books in the Devil’s Isle series so I am really excited to have the next in the series, The Hunt, for review.  I have seen some really positive feedback for The Bourbon Kings so I decided to grab a copy when I saw that it was only $1.99 for kindle.

Print Books

Be True to Me by Adele Griffin (Won @ We Live and Breathe Books)
The Girl with the Make-Believe Husband by Julia Quinn (Won @ Miranda’s Book Blog)

I had a pretty lucky week with contests.  I won a copy of Be True to Me from the blog tour stop at We Live and Breathe Books and am really excited to read it.  I also won a copy of The Girl with the Make-Believe Husband from the blog tour stop at Miranda’s Book Blog.  I think that I actually should have received the previous book in the series but I am not complaining since this book sound great.

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own STS post!

  1. Time certainly is flying and I've got a lot of books I still want to read this year! This was a more modest week with just six books, all recommended to me in UF, historical and horror. Not sure about a couple of them but we'll give it a try! Enjoy your time off-you certainly deserve it!

  2. Time is flying by way to fast this year. I swear my brain is somewhere back in April haha! Sorry to hear about the headaches, but I'm glad to see you had some great luck with giveaways this past week! Hope you enjoy all of your new books, and have a great (and migraine free!) weekend!

  3. Yeah! I am so glad you won Be True to Me from my tour stop!! I am a fan of Griffin's story telling, just be prepared for some heartache. The Bourbon Kings was so delicious. It's all soapy drama ala 80s era Dallas. I loved it! I listened to the audiobook via Overdrive, but my library had not gotten the others. I may suck it up and see if they have the physical book, because the ebooks is almost $15 – too rich for my blood. Hope you enjoy all your new books!

The Hunt looks awesome, I've seen that one already on a few blogs today.

  8. Time does seem to be going pretty quick! Just think in two more weeks, Hallmark will be breaking out their Christmas ornaments! LOL! Nice new reads! Can't wait for Chloe's new book! hoping to get a review copy of that next month! Hope you enjoy the new reads!

  11. Time sure is flying but I am not complaining because I have been waiting for a while to get my exam results back! A few more days now and then I will know it all. I also hope you enjoy all those books. I love Julia Quinn, so I am sure that will be a quality read.

  13. I was able to get The Hunt too. Seems like as the year goes on, we have more and more books in common. I've never read a J.R.Ward book but maybe I'll pick up one someday!

  14. I had 3 kids in band so I can relate to all the camp madness and a friend of mine's daughter was a drum major and that was even more work! It was a happy day when mine got their licenses! The J.R. Ward is calling to me. THat series sounds really good and I can't wait to see what you think of the Julia Quinn. She's one of my favorites. Have a great week!
