Stacking the Shelves #102

Posted January 13, 2018 by Carole in Stacking the Shelves / 46 Comments

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.

This was a really quiet week for me.  I spent a lot of time home with the dogs in the evenings while my husband and daughter had things to do.  It was kind of nice to have the house to myself for a bit.  I didn’t request a single book from NetGalley or Edelweiss even though I saw a few that were very tempting.  I think I may actually follow through with my goal of focusing on the pile of arcs that I already have.  I did have my first dnf of the year this week with The Immortalists.

Books for Review

Reign of the Fallen by Sarah Glenn Marsh (First to Read)

I finally got around to downloading Reign of the Fallen from First to Read.  I like the sound of the book but my copy has some really strange things going on with the fonts so I don’t know if I will end up reading this file or not.  I may just wait and grab a copy from the library.

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own STS post!

  2. Every once in awhile I get an odd format from First to Read too. Sometimes it drives me crazy. Sorry you had a DNF but hey, there are lots more books out there. Your quiet time with the dogs sounds awesome!

  3. I'm sorry the Immortalists didn't work for you, Carole. I have been wanting to read that one. 🙁 I think I might have downloaded two NetGalley books this week, despite my trying to stay away. It's those e-mails I get that make it so hard. I need to unsubscribe, I think. LOL I hope you have a great week!

  4. Yes, sometimes its nice to have some undisturbed alone time. Glad you got a quiet week. Impressive to stick with it and not pick up more review books. I was strong through three requests and caved on one. LOL
Bummer about the DNF, but also, good that you are able to not waste the time and can move on to another book.

    Have a good week, Carole!

  5. Reign of the Fallen looks interesting! Sorry to hear of the font issues, hopefully you're still able to read it or get a library copy.

Happy reading and have a good weekend!

  6. I do love it when you can have the house to yourself!! I am trying not to request too many titles as well since I have fallen behind in my ARC reading. Have a great weekend.

  7. I hate it when I download an ecopy of a book only for it to have wonky fonts and/or weird space breaks. Sorry this one might not work out for you…

  8. First to Read has been so disappointing for me! I haven't seen any books that I really want to read, in months. Sad life! Maybe they'll put something really good soon, like Hero at the Fall. ? I hope you enjoy REIGN!

Have a wonderful weekend, Carole. =)

  9. Same here! Saw lots of interesting books on Netgalley, but I made it one of my goals to read first a couple of books and after finishing those I can request one.

Bummer about DNF'ing The Immortalists. I did finish it, but had some issues with it too. Love the cover on Reign. I'm going to have to check it out. Yay, for some alone time. (what is it like?) 🙂 Have a great week!!!

  11. A quiet week is so nice! They don't come around all that often but are so welcome when they do! Great job not requesting anything this week. I slowed down about requesting last year but I'm hoping to be even better this year so I have a hope of getting caught up!
