Stacking the Shelves #158

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.

My Life
What a week!  This will be the first weekend that I haven’t had to take a trip to visit a college in about a month.  I am really looking forward to curling up with a good book and watching some Game of Thrones this weekend.

We did get some really exciting news late last week.  My daughter has been awarded one of the scholarships she has been interviewing for during all of these trips over the past few weeks.  This scholarship is for a full ride meaning it covers tuition plus room and board for 4 years.  She also just found out that she is moving on to the second round of interviews for another full ride scholarship at a different college.  I had hoped that she might be able to get a scholarship that would pay for everything but I didn’t count on it happening.  We are so very proud of her accomplishment.

Books Added

The Lemon Sisters by Jill Shalvis (Edelweiss)
Things You Save in a Fire by Katherine Center (NetGalley)
Jar of Hearts by Jennifer Hillier (Purchased)

I added 2 review books this week.  I am really going to have to slow down on adding books for review to my pile if I am going to stick with my year’s goals.  I love Jill Shalvis so I was excited to get my hands on The Lemon SistersThings You Save in a Fire was more of an impulse grab but I have heard great things about this author.  I picked up Jar of Hearts when it was the daily deal one day this week and am looking forward to it.

Moonlight Sins by Jennifer Armentrout – Signed! (Won @ Readers Live A Thousand Lives)

I was lucky enough to win a copy of Moonlight Sins from Teresa Mary Rose at Readers Live a Thousand Lives.  I actually have not read Armentrout yet so I am really excited to get started with this one.  Thanks, Teresa Mary Rose!

Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman (Audible Purchase)
Southern Spirits by Angie Fox (Audible Purchase)
Cake by J. Bengtsson (Audible Freebie)

I couldn’t resist the freebie offered at Audible for Valentine’s Day.  I haven’t really heard much about Cake but I like the narrators so it is worth a try.  I have actually read Southern Spirits but I would like to continue with the series and need to re-read this one before moving on.  I love the narrator so I thought the audiobook was a good choice.  I picked up Norse Mythology when it was the daily deal this week as well.

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own STS post!

  1. Whoa! That is amazing for your daughter! And for the full four years?! Omg! She's got to be so happy about that! And you as well! I'm still paying my student loans!

Nice new reads too! And congrats on the win! A signed one at that! I LOOOOOVED this series by Jennifer! it was soooo amazing!! I loved that each book kind of stood on its own, yet still had one storyline that went throughout all three of them! It was a great series!! Hope you enjoy all your lovely new reads!

Oh! Are you going to the Susan Dennard signing tomorrow at 2:30? It's at the Spencer Road library in St. Charles! I'll be there!!

My STS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!

    Have a GREAT day!

  2. Yay for your daughter, and you, for those scholarships. 🙂
Enjoy your quiet weekend and lovely stack of books. You got some good ones.

  3. Can we just give your daughter a round of applause. The possibility of TWO full-ride scholarships. That's amazing! I was grateful for full tuition ($40K a year), but to not have to worry about housing either. That's a dream come true. Congratulations to your daughter. I was excited to get The Lemon Sisters too. I love Shalvis and am really enjoying the series.

  4. I'm glad you have a weekend home with great books. But wow, great work by your daughter. You have a right to be proud. Anne – Books of My Heart

  5. Wonderful news about the scholarship. All of that traveling paid off and you must all be so thrilled. Enjoy all of those great new reads on your weekend off.

  6. Oh that's excellent news! Congratulations on the scholarship! And yay for a weekend of no traveling. 🙂 Hope you get lots of good Game of thrones time in.

    Have a great weekend!

  7. That's amazing news about your daughter! Sure alleviates a lot of stress knowing there won't be hefty bills to pay when she's done. I liked Jar of Hearts. It was an interesting read. 🙂

  8. Oh wow congratulations to her for getting the full ride scholarship! That is brilliant and will be so helpful for her in the future as well. I hope the second one goes through for her as well so she is able to have some choice 🙂

  9. I almost grabbed Jar of Hearts but I know my library has it. Congrats to your daughter. I'm sure you're so proud!

  10. That is great news about your daughter's scholarship. I too have been trying to rein myself in on review books. I would like to check more out of the library and catch up on some of my favorite big name authors.
