Stacking the Shelves #185

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.

My Life
Last weekend I had a nice visit with my daughter.  Unfortunately, I ended up with a migraine later that afternoon.  This migraine not nice and it lasted two days.  Let me tell you going to work with a migraine isn’t any fun. If you noticed that I wasn’t around the blog at the start of the week, that migraine would be the reason.
Piper, our puppy, went to the vet this week.  She now weighs 20 pounds.  In the 6 weeks since we brought her home, she has gone from 7 pounds up to 20 pounds.  It is amazing how quickly puppies grow!
It was otherwise a pretty quiet week and we are planning on having a quiet weekend as well.
I hope everyone celebrating Labor Day enjoys their holiday weekend!

Books Added
The Fifth Column by Andrew Gross (Publisher)
Cowboy to the Rescue by A.J. Pine (NetGalley)
Twisted World by Kate L. Mary (For Review)
Cruel Candy by Mildred Abbott (For Review)
Selkies Are a Girl’s Best Friend by Molly Harper (For Review)
What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own STS post!

  1. Good to hear that Piper is growing nicely! I'd have loved to have a puppy when I was a kid! My dad still gets the migraines but the medication he is on seems to keep the worst of them at bay thankfully so you have our sympathy.

  2. Sorry to hear about the migraine! I've had bad headaches myself, but none that ever lasted two days. At least not since I was in high school, but that's another story! Hope you're feeling better now! The worst kind of sick is one that prevents you from reading and migraines are definitely that!

Oh wow! Piper is definitely growing fast! But that's good, glad that she's doing well too!

Nice new reads! Totally new to me ones but I hope you enjoy them all!

And ooh, did you see Leigh Bardugo is coming back to St. Louis?! I am definitely going to that signing…the problem will be deciding on what one book to bring to have her sign! Lol.

My StS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!

    Have a GREAT day!

  3. Yikes on the migraine, but glad you had a nice visit with your daughter first. The Molly Harper looks like a fun one.

    Enjoy your Labor Day, Carole!

  4. Sorry your migraine cut your visit short. BOOO! They can be so crippling too. I have been interested in trying a Pine book, and will be curious to see what your think of her newest.

  5. Oh I'm so sorry to hear about your migraine. I haven't had one in awhile (knock on wood) but I remember how awful they were. Glad you had a nice visit with your daughter before it hit. Piper is growing fast! Puppies are amazing with how quick they grow. It's like you blink and they double. Have a great week and enjoy your reads!

  6. I am sorry about your migraine. How awful! I can't even imagine trying to get through work with one. Cowboy to the Rescue looks fun! I'll be anxious to read your review of Selkies Are a Girl's Best Friend. That sounds good too! I hope you enjoy your new books.

We're going to a BBQ tomorrow. Some friends are getting together for a viewing party of this past summer's musical and ballet. It should be fun. I hope you have a great rest of the weekend, Carole.

  7. I wonder if there is something going on in the weather / air, as my daughter had migraines this week also. I hope the weekend is relaxing and you have a better (short) week ahead!

  8. Oh yes. Migraines aren't fun. Sometimes, I get the worst ones where I'm literally vomiting from the excruciating pain. Laid up for days, even. I hope you're feeling so much better.

    Have a great week!

  9. Oh, migraines are the worst! Sorry you had to endure one while working. Wow, your puppy has grown so quickly!

I'm interested in hearing your thoughts on the AJ Pine book. Hope you enjoyed your Labor Day Weekend! 🙂

  10. Migraines are the worst. I used to get them pretty frequently but they have died down quite a bit. I don't think that anyone who hasn't has one can really understand them.

Puppies do grow so fast. In fact, dogs age too quickly all around. Hope you had a great Labor Day – ours was low-key. Just like I wanted it!
