Stacking the Shelves #233

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.

My Life
I must say that I am enjoying being the owner of only one house.  It was really nice being able to leave for work just a little later since I didn’t have to check on the other house in the morning and not having to worry about checking on the other house when I finally get comfortable after work.
I tried not to spend too much time looking at election results and the associated drama but found myself rather distracted at times.
We have a big package of Fireball candy at my office.  I have had one a time or two and decided to have one on Tuesday and again on Wednesday this week.  I didn’t notice any problems after eating one on Tuesday but I think I had an allergic reaction on Wednesday.  I had a large blister in my mouth and most of my mouth was swollen and irritated.   All of the taste buds on my tongue are still swollen and painful.  It has been another distraction during this past week.
What I’m Reading
I finished two books this week.  I think that’s pretty good considering all of the election stuff filling up the week.  I finished listening to Bitter Moon by Alexandra Sokoloff, which I enjoyed quite a bit.  I also finished the upcoming installment in Kelley Armstrong’s Rockton series, A Stranger in Town, which I loved.

I have had a digital ARC of Dreamweaver Trail by Emily March for years and decided to mark it from my tbr list by listening to the audiobook.  I am halfway through and look forward to seeing how everything wraps up.   I started reading The Burning Girls by C.J. Tudor late in the week and am loving it so far.

Books Added

The Bright and Breaking Sea by Chloe Neill (NetGalley)

Forget About Me by Karen Grey (Author)

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own STS post!

  1. I get mouth blisters from stuff like that. I remember I was plagued for a while. I googled, saw that certain things could make that happen. It was my toothpaste being too minty. I hope you mouth heals quickly, because those buggers hurt.

  2. Yikes, scary that the candy did that to your mouth. I hope it heals quickly. My reading suffered a bit since my evenings were spent watching CNN. Hopefully I can get back to normal this week.

  3. You must be feeling so calm, after all the chaos of back and forth between the houses…and now that the election is behind us (sort of!), so much better.

I felt that reading two books this week was quite an accomplishment, too! Here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

  4. Yeah, I'll bet its great not having responsibilities for two houses. Way to go getting to an older book on the pile. Yikes, hope the allergy reaction settles down in your mouth.

    Have a great week, Carole!

  5. I'm glad having one house is less stressful. I'm allergic to avocados but I still eat them. lol My mouth burns for about 30 minutes after eating one and my throat feels like I swallowed a cactus.

  6. I'm happy to hear you guys can finally enjoy just the one house haha. Allergic reactions are never fun. I found out a few years ago that I'm allergic to live christmas trees. Thankfully I only react when I've touched them, so now I stay clear. As an added bonus, I have an excuse to keep me from having to hall it out of the house after the holidays!

  7. I'm glad you are past the house selling and having the election day and ads over is a relief for everyone. I'm excited to have a woman in the White House. I am also reading the Chloe Neill and Karen Grey books. I want to get the Kelley Armstrong on audio so that will be later. I hope this week is normal, and relaxing for you! Happy reading!

  8. I used reading to distract me during election week. It helped. Sorry about your allergic reaction. I had something similar happen and still don't know what caused it.

  9. I hope the allergic reaction eases and disappears for you soon, Carole. I am sorry you are having to deal with that. Yay though for one house! What a relief to finally have sold the other house. I look forward to reading The Bright and Breaking Sea someday and can't wait to hear your thoughts on it. I hope you have a great week, Carole.

  10. Sorry I haven't been around. I've been losing at life lately – haha. Glad things have quieted down for you. I'm sorry you had a reaction – I love Fireballs! Reminds me I need to get some for Christmas. I love the looks of your new books!
