Stacking the Shelves #235

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.

My Life
This was a good week.  Today is my birthday so I will probably be taking it easy, eating lots of things that are bad for me, and reading.  My daughter is home from college for the week which is nice.  So all in all, life is good.
I did have some stress at work which has left me rethinking things a bit.  I think that it might be time to brush off my resume and explore other employment options.  I doubt that any changes will happen soon but it is time to start seeing what is out there.
I have been working really hard to get more caught up with my reviews.  I have a bad habit of waiting way too long after finishing a book to actually write down my thoughts so I am trying to do better.  I also tend to often fail to cross-post my reviews after they are posted on my blog.  I have spent some time this week trying to work on these two things.
I hope that everyone celebrating Thanksgiving has a happy and safe holiday this week!
What I’m Reading
I finished three books this week.  I finished up a few chores around the house while listening to The Bright and Breaking Sea by Chloe Neill which I really enjoyed.  I thought that The Siren and the Deep Blue Sea by Kerrelyn Sparks was a fantastic conclusion to the series and I was thrilled to learn from the author on Twitter that future books are planned in the same world featuring the children.  I thought that Forget About Me by Karen Grey was one of the best romances on audio that I have listened to in a long time and had a hard time putting it down.

I have more books going right now than I normally do.  I am reading a print copy of Redemption Point by Candice Fox and am loving it.  I am really thinking that this series needs more attention.  I like to read on my Kindle for a bit in bed before going to sleep and kind of randomly started reading an older book that I downloaded from NetGalley years ago, The Winemakers by Jan Moran, and am liking it well enough so far.   Of course, I was eager to get started with the audio of Loverboy by Sarina Bowen.  I have only listened to a little bit but can tell that it will be another winner.   I have been eager to see An Unexpected Peril by Deanna Raybourn on NetGalley and when it was listed, I couldn’t request it quick enough.  I was shocked to be approved within just a few hours and couldn’t stop myself from starting it right away.

  1. I saw that email from Netgalley, but was mad, because I already had all those books. I have so many Macmillian "wishes" out there too (why weren't any of those on the list – sigh). How wonderful that your daughter will be home to help celebrate your birthday (HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!) I dusted off my resume this week too. Hope there are some new opportunities for us in the future.

  2. Happy Birthday!!!! I hope you have an awesome day today!! Sorry to hear things are starting to get bad at work. I wish you all the best in your future job search, don't give up either! It took me wayyyy too long to find my job now. Of course we're in strange times now, so job searching might be more strenuous too. But I wish you all the best!!

Nice new reads! I sadly didn't enjoy Chloe's book. It saddened me as it was the first book of Chloe's that I didn't love. I hope you will enjoy them all!

    Here's my StS

You had a great week, despite your settling in process, etc. You have some great books on hand…and I got a copy of Goodnight Beautiful this week. Here are my WEEKLY UPDATES

  5. Have a great birthday eating badly, lounging, and enjoying family. It will be fun if your job feelers turn up a job you can really enjoy. Glad you're getting back into your reading and organizing reviews and shares so you feel better about that.
I got the Deanna Raybourn book, too.

    Have a good week, Carole!
