Stacking the Shelves #236

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.

My Life
I had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.  I was really needing some time off work so the holiday was just the break that I needed.  I had a pretty low key Thanksgiving with my husband, youngest daughter, and my mother.  I made enough food to last for a while and have been enjoying the break from cooking while we work on the leftovers.
My daughter and I did do a little shopping.  I had mixed feeling about going out but we decided to go and just stay as safe as possible.  She got a new winter coat and some socks and I bought way too many books.  I did send a few resumes out but I don’t expect anything to happen soon.  I can stay at my current job for as long as I want to so there really is no urgency even though I am ready to see what else is out there.
How was your week?
What I’m Reading
This was a week of great reads!  I finished Redemption Point by Candice Fox on Sunday and absolutely loved it.  I had a good time with the audio of Loverboy by Sarina Bowen and thought it made the workday much more enjoyable.   I got up early on Thanksgiving so I could have some quiet time to dedicate to reading An Unexpected Peril by Deanna Raybourn and love that this series just seems to keep getting better and better.   I was also able to knock an older review book from my tbr by finishing The Winemakers by Jan Moran.

I am currently in the middle of listening to Lovers at Heart, Reimagined by Melissa Foster.   I will probably start reading a new book sometime today but I am not sure which one just yet.

Books Added

The Electric Kingdom by David Arnold (Publisher via Bookish First)

Open Heart by Gregory D. Williams (Publisher via Bookish First)

  1. I'm glad you had an amazing Thanksgiving! And it's good to hear you're hesitant about going shopping. Here in The Netherlands we get updates daily about too busy stores. They even closed shops this weekend because the cities were overcrowded… Really weird decisions by humans….

  2. Glad it was a good Thanksgiving. There were only three of us so the only thing we had leftovers of was turkey. And a turkey sandwich is my favorite Thanksgiving leftover. πŸ™‚ I'm excited for Loverboy. Sarina Bowen in a longtime favorite.

  3. Good for you sending out resumes. I hope you get some nibbles. I need to start that new Bowen series. I own the first book, so I already halfway there.

  4. Glad you had a nice holiday! I actually still have yet to get to the bookstore for my Black Friday book shopping. HPB didn't mention doing their giveaway–which come to think of it was a good thing! And I still haven't gotten to B&N to see what signed books they have. But I've been doing quite a bit of indie shopping with some of my books to get signed editions that I don't know that I can afford to go to B&N! Lol. Upset that they didn't send a coupon for the holiday. I haven't gotten coupons from them probably since President's Day. Sigh…and I have backlist titles I'm ready to buy too!

Wishing you the best of luck in the job search! I know it can be a trying and challenging time. So I'm sending all the good vibes your way! And yeah, just remember the holidays and end of year are hard times for companies to look to hire, so don't get discouraged. It took me a very long time to finally nail this job and I somehow did it during this COVID mess. So just keep sending out the resumes!

Nice new reads! New to me ones but I hope you enjoy them all!

    Here's my StS

  5. Sounds like a nice Thanksgiving break and time with family. Glad your shopping went well. We have been having leftovers, too. Good deal about getting your resumes out and seeing what's available for you.
Woohoo on getting so much reading done. I look forward to A Desperate Peril.

    Have a good week, Carole!

  6. It's great you had a nice holiday with your family. We just stayed home and have done all our shopping online. Good luck on the job search; it's wonderful you don't have to rush. Stay safe and well! Enjoy those new reads!

  7. I’m glad you had a nice Thanksgiving. Good luck with the job search. I desperately need new clothes and shoes, but I haven’t been brave enough to go shopping yet. Have a great week.

  8. Glad to hear you enjoyed your Thanksgiving. I rarely go out shopping anymore. I do most of my shopping online. I never go out on Black Friday. So happy you can get the same deals online! Good luck with the job hunt! πŸ™‚

I want to read the new Veronica Speedwell. Can't wait!
