Stacking the Shelves #245

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.

My Life
This week was dominated by my fence and the weather.  We put a down payment on a small section of fence back either late October or early November and it was finally time for it to be installed this week.  We were scheduled for installation on Tuesday.  Since it rained all day on Monday, they pushed our fence back to Wednesday.  On Wednesday, we had snow so they pushed our fence back to Thursday.  On Thursday, they called to push the fence back again because there was snow on the ground and we were scheduled on Friday.  My husband took Wednesday and Thursday off work to deal with the fence stuff but I had that task on Friday.  I wasn’t worried because I knew they would cancel.  Of course, that ended up being the day that we got the fence and I had to try to juggle keeping an eye on work, the fence installation, and 3 dogs that were not happy about anything that was going on.
Our new fence!
So we now have a new section of fence.  We are now waiting for the shed that we ordered in November to be installed but that won’t happen until March.
How was your week?
What I’m Reading
I actually finished Crown of Bones by A.K. Wilder before I went to bed last Saturday and loved it!  I then finished the audiobook A Mother’s Promise by K.D. Alden early in the week and thought that it was a very powerful story.  Despite having other books that I knew I should be reading, I decided to squeeze in the audiobook of Twice Tempted by Jeaniene Frost which was technically a re-read but I didn’t remember anything from my first read so it was like reading it for the first time.  I really enjoyed Reunited on Dragonfly Lane by Annie Rains and definitely plan to read more from this author in the future.  I thought that The Afterlife of the Party by Marlene Perez was a fun YA vampire story.

I have actually just started all three of my current reads.  I have listened to about an hour of Max Abaddon and the Will by Justin S. Leslie and I think it seems promising so far.  I have read just a few pages of The Electric Kingdom by David Arnold & The Rakehell of Roth by Amalie Howard but I am excited to read both of these books.

Books Added
What’s Done in Darkness by Laura McHugh (NetGalley)
Blindsided by Victoria Denault (Publicist)
Holdout by Jaqueline Snowe (audiobook) (Publicist)

  1. Naturally the fence got installed the day you were at home. lol But it looks great! Seems like you've been enjoying more fantasy lately… I hope your current reads are big hits for you!

  2. That fence was quite a saga. Mother nature was really working against you. Glad it got installed. I am jealous of everyone who has the new Denault book. I love her hockey books. Hope you enjoy all you new goodies.

  3. Glad the fence was finally installed. We've been having issues with Woods Basement Repair since November. Our little one day project is a still a work in progress. Don't ever go with them should you need basement or foundation work. They do not have their shitick together! lol.

Nice new reads! I'm curious about What Big Teeth, but also hesitant. I seem to have bad luck lately with choosing books that give me somewhat of a pause. I might wait for reviews to trickle in before deciding.

Hope you enjoy the new reads!

    Here's my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower 🙂

  4. Oh, don't you hate waiting for work to get done? It must be especially difficult these days. Glad you finally got that section, though.

Enjoy your books, and I am intrigued by the cover of Big White Teeth.

    Here are my WEEKLY UPDATES

  5. That's funny about the day you least expected to be the fence day. It looks nice. Glad you enjoyed so many books this past week. I'll probably have to re-read Vlad's books to get through the two I still haven't read since I can't remember the plot at all.

    Have a good week, Carole!

  6. Contractors are often difficult. I'm glad it's finished. I haven't read Vlad's books yet. I own them all on audio, some on ebook. That may be part of the Frost Read-along I have planned for next year. I have to plan it out yet. I hope this week is smoother and better weather!

  7. I'm glad you finally have the fence up! We got a new standard poodle puppy this weekend, so our week is shaping up to be fun.

  8. I hate when things that shouldn't be so complicated, like fencing, end up being uber complicated. It wrecks the entire week.

I put Crown of Bones on my TBR. I'm hoping to read it at some point. Lol

  9. I usually like my husband to handle that kind of house stuff, but I've also been stuck dealing with that kind of stuff, too. By accident and just the way it ended up, but I feel out of my element. Glad it turned out nice for you.

I've read and enjoyed Victoria Denault. I'll keep my eye out for her new release. Happy reading, Carole! 🙂

  10. Your new fence looks very nice! I often get stuck with stuff like that since it's perceived I have more flexibility in my work schedule. That isn't always true, but I still get stuck with it all. LOL

We are considering getting a shed. We need to get HOA approval first though, even though it will be in our backyard. I guess because the neighbors around us can see it from their windows? Anyway, it would be much welcome because we could finally clean out some of the stuff in our garage.

Your current reads and new books all look good! I hope you have a great week, Carole!
