Stacking the Shelves #255

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.

My Life
Happy Easter to all those that celebrate!
I think that this was a pretty average week.  I can’t remember any stand-out events so I think it was pretty calm.  I like calm so that is good.  We went to work, walked the dogs, read some books, and tried to keep the house in some kind of order.
On Saturday, we went to the hardware store and bought a few things that we needed for the house and some projects we plan to get started with soon.  We brought my mom with us and she picked up some new lights and a few other items that we will install at her house.  I was excited to see some of our flowers starting to bloom.
I was lucky enough to have Friday off.  I don’t really understand why my work is closed for Good Friday but open for Christmas Eve and Martin Luther King Day but I sure enjoyed having the day off.  My husband had to work so I was able to do whatever I wanted all day and spent most of the day reading with a dog or two curled up next to me.  It was bliss.
How was your week?
What I’m Reading
I spent much of the week reading Wicked All Night by Jeaniene Frost.  I had really been looking forward to this book and it was just as good as I had hoped it would be.  During the workday, I listened to Naked in Death by J.D. Robb and I am starting to understand why some readers love this series as much as they do.

I went back to listening to Sea of Love by Melissa Foster and seemed to be enjoying it more.  I can really be a mood reader at times.  I started You Love Me by Caroline Kepnes and am really enjoying being inside Joe’s head again which is kind of scary now that I am thinking about it.

Books Added
Feral Creatures by Kira Jane Buxton (NetGalley)

  1. I just love spring and see all the buds blooming! I always plant vegetables and fruits with my students so that's what we did last week. To see them so happy when their little plants start to bloom is just so much fun.

Have a great week ahead 🙂

  2. My company doesn't close for Good Friday, either, but I took the day off for my 2nd Covid vaccine. I'll take any reason for a three day weekend. 🙂 I didn't know another Kepnes book was coming out. I'll have to tell my husband since he liked the first two books.

  3. Your blooms are encouraging me. We had a cold snap, but I think the temps are heading in the right direction this week. My line of business follows the stock market. We closed Good Friday (but we also have MLK day too). We are open all those eves though, and don't always get the short day like the market does. *boo hoo* I like any days off though, let's be honest. Glad you enjoyed your "you" time.

  4. Our company does the opposite. We work Good Friday but get those other standard holidays off. Which Friday was a super slow day, so that made it hard to get through whereas the day before was nuts! Lol.

Nice new read! That's a new to me one but I hope you enjoy it!

    Here's my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

  5. Looking forward for your review of You Love Me!! It's nice to know you're enjoying it. I read Hidden Bodies a couple of years ago and I didn't really like it. But since watching the series, I'm really more than willing to try the upcoming additional books (depending on how they'll be receive I guess).

  6. Your spring flowers are so pretty and I'm glad you got that day off to do relaxing things. Glad all the books this week were great.

    Happy Easter, Carole!

  7. Yay for tulips and daffodils! I have iris going to town now. I'm so happy you had a beautiful day off! I love love the In Death series. You're reading some other good stuff too. Have a lovely week!

Anne – Books of My Heart

  8. Beautiful tulip and narcissus! I love this blooming time of year.

Yes, being inside Joe's head is scary which is why I never picked up book two! The first one was riveting, though! Looking forward to your thoughts on book three. Have a great week, Carole!

  9. How nice to have a day on your own! Always fun. Yay for a calm week! I love the flowers. I think bulb flowers are really my favorite with daffodils being my absolute favorite. Tulips are a close second. Have a great week!

  10. The In Death series by JD Robb is ginormous! I started collecting the books but they remain unread. Sigh. I managed to procure 20 of the 50-some odd books, but they're not in sequence. Lol. Anyway, I hope you'll continue to enjoy them!

  11. Some of the holidays don't make sense, especially the date of Easter changing every year from March to April to March but Xmas never changes. Huh.

  12. I am with you. Calm is good. Such pretty flowers! I am enjoying the spring flowers on my walks in the neighborhood. I am glad you were able to enjoy a Friday off. I hope you enjoy your reading and have a great rest of the week, Carole!
