I am really excited to participate in The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Reading Reality.

My Life

It has been 2 weeks since my last weekly wrap-up. Last Sunday, I spend the entire day in the car so posting just wasn’t practical. We left for vacation on Tuesday, July 13th, and spent the entire day driving. We finally made it to Columbus, GA around 9:00 pm. My daughter’s trombone conference started on Wednesday about mid-day so after we got her there, my husband and I hit a local bookstore or two. Because you have to visit bookstores on vacation it’s a rule. Then we were off to a really cool park that had a canyon. We did a 3-mile hike and it was rough but the views were spectacular! On Thursday, we went to Atlanta and toured the Coca-Cola Museum, and then I met an old friend that now lives in the area. Spending time with my friend, Yolanda, and her niece was my favorite part of the trip. On Friday, we went to Montgomery, AL, and explored some of the history there. On Saturday, we went to Senoia which is where a few seasons of The Walking Dead and some other shows and movies were filmed and took in the sights. We stumbled upon a covered bridge that day and also had time to stop off at a gorgeous part will an old mill.

I was right back at work the next morning after driving home from Georgia. Since I have been home, I have been buried in laundry, weeds, and various other things that needed attention around the house. It has been overwhelming. I was able to post a few reviews but didn’t have much of a chance to blog hop. I hope to be around a lot more next week!

What I’m Reading

I finished four books in two weeks. I was hoping for more since I was on vacation for much of the time but that didn’t work out. My husband doesn’t read and likes to be more active on trips so reading just didn’t happen. I finished City of Lies by Victoria Thompson before we headed out on our trip and I thought it was pretty good. I listened to A Good Day for Chardonnay by Darynda Jones in the car during our trip and had a great time with it. I finished Capture the Crown by Jennifer Estep a few days ago and enjoyed it quite a bit. I was able to listen to Legacy by Nora Roberts at work this week which was a pleasant way to spend the workday.

I am about a quarter of the way through Devil in Disguise by Lisa Kleypas and am enjoying it quite a bit. I started reading The Weight of This World by David Joy when I pulled the book off of my shelf to prepare my Books from the Backlog post this week. I have about 100 pages left and hope to finish it today.

Books Added

Cackle by Rachel Harrison (NetGalley); An Abush of Widows by Jeff Abbot (Publisher); The View Was Exhausting by Mikaella Clements & Onjuli Datta (Publisher)

  1. Vacations are always great, but there’s so much you have to catch up on when you return home. Ugh! Sounds like you had a fantastic time, and how wonderful you got to catch up with a friend. Love the pictures!

  2. Oh wow! Sounds like you had a fun trip! I love going to new places and doing fun things that are local/special to the area.

Nice new reads! I can’t wait to read Darynda’s newest book! Hope you enjoy all the new reads!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

  3. Whew, you’ve had a whirlwind couple of weeks. Glad the trip went well and you got to see some new places and things as well as enjoyed a lovely visit with you’re friend. Getting four books read over a vacation period is pretty good in my books because I get less read on vacation. Yay for picking up your books from the backlog book to read.

    Have a good week, Carole!

  4. Ooh, what a fun vacation! Great photos that make me want to go there. And, of course, bookstores must be visited.

I want to read A Good Day for Chardonnay, and An Ambush of Widows is tempting me.

Enjoy your week, and here are my WEEKLY UPDATES

  5. Great photos and I’m so glad you had a nice trip with a bunch o different activities. I’m the coordinator / navigator / driver so I often don’t have much time to read on trips other than audio while driving. Plus since we don’t have cable at home we watch HGTV and Animal Planet when we travel if we can.

  6. I’m glad you had a nice trip. Sometimes I just don’t get a ton of reading done on vacation either – it depends on what all is happening. I’ve been to the Coca-Cola museum but it’s been years now. My favorite part is where you can try all the soda from around the world. hah Yay for meeting up with a friend!

  7. I think laundry multiplies when you get home. I swear I end up doing laundry for double the number of days that we’re gone even though it’s not like we’re changing clothes multiple times a day while on vacation. It sounds like a fun vacation and of course you had to stop at bookstores! I’m still not over discovering a town had a really cool bookstore AFTER we got home from vacation. Have a great week!
