I am really excited to participate in The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Reading Reality.

My Life

We are starting to settle back into our lives without the kid at home. We’re not very exciting when our daughter is home but we are probably more boring now that she is back at college. It has been very hot so we have spent most of our free time staying in the AC as much as possible. Today we plan to work on some painting projects, starting with the living room ceiling. I am not a fan of painting but it really needs to be done.

Things are going to start getting crazy next week. My work will start the moving process on September 1st. I am responsible for packing up all of the files in my office and I have to admit that I haven’t even started. It’s going to be a long week. On Wednesday, we are having all of the doors in the house replaced along with our basement windows. We placed the order back in April so I am pretty eager to finally get things installed.

What I’m Reading

I finished four books this week if you are going to count the 1-hour short story (and I am counting it!). I started the week out listening to Deader Homes and Gardens by Angie Fox. I had such a good time with it that I decided to jump right into the short story that was next in the series Dog Gone Ghost. Next up, I listened to The Heart Principle by Helen Hoang and think that it is probably the best book in the series. None of the books that I have for review sounded good to me this week so I picked up Finlay Donovan Is Killing It by Elle Cosimano which fit my mood perfectly.

I am currently reading Hard Fall by Brenda Rothert and Kat Mizera. I just had to give a hockey romance set in St. Louis a try and so far so good. I plan to start listening to Certain Dark Things by Silvia Morena-Garcia and am really looking forward to it.

Books Added

A Reason for Hope by Kristin Von Kreisler (NetGalley); The Heart Principle by Helen Hoang (NetGalley)

  1. People are all over the place with Hoang’s book. I am still on the fence about it, but probably will read it at some point. Finlay Donovan was fun. I enjoyed that one. Good luck with all the house projects and the move at work. Hope it all goes smoothly

  2. Yeah I had to move my office twice at my last job when we moved and then moved again after a year. It’s not fun. Luckily I really just packed up my personal items that I didn’t want the movers touching as we took the desks and filing cabinets as is, so that helped out with the packing part the second time around. The first time we were ditching our furniture so that’s when everything went into a box.

Nice new reads! Those are new to me ones but I hope you enjoy them both!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

  3. Oh it sounds like a jam packed week at home and work next week. At least one might listen to audiobooks while packing. Good luck! The long weekend is coming. I enjoyed the Heart Principle. Quan is just so kind in both words and actions.

  4. Looks like you have had a good week there. I am sure being empty nesters can be an adjustment so hope its smooth and you and your husband find some adventures.

I have been so nervous to read Heart Principle, but if its the best one, then I am pretty excited to read it.

  5. Hopefully your office move will go smoothly and yay for some home improvement jobs to get done this week. Way to go getting to four books. I do love the Angie Fox books.

    Have a good week, Carole!

  6. I enjoyed Finlay Donovan. I think the sequel will appeal to me even more now that things are all set up. I found some of that to be a bit slow moving.

  7. Lots of home improvements going on. Never fun in the middle but so satisfying when it’s done. I’m feeling meh about The Heart Principle. So many reviews saying the same thing have me thinking it’s not going to be the story I have been hoping for and want.

  8. We aren’t very exciting either but I’m right there with you with staying in the A/C! Good luck with the office move! All your books look great but I’m really wanting Finlay Donovan and the Angie Fox books. They all look great! Hope you’re having a wonderful week.
