I am really excited to participate in The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Reading Reality.

My Life

This was a pretty quiet week. We didn’t do anything outside of our regular routine and I couldn’t be happier about it. We walked the dogs, pulled some weeds, and tried to keep some order in the house. It was nice having my daughter home and we spent some time just hanging out.

Weatherwise, things have been less calm. We had some pretty decent storms and tornado sirens were going off non-stop for a while. We didn’t get much more than rain but we have had a lot of it. I am always worried that we will get hail anytime we have storms. I have had more insurance claims because of hail than any one person should ever have. I am just glad that the storms weren’t severe this time around.

How was your week?

What I’m Reading

I finished 5 books this week. I finished Anatomy of a Scandal by Sarah Vaughan early in the week and really enjoyed it. Then I switched gears and listened to Shadow Falling by Rebecca Zanetti which was a nice romance set in a post-apocalyptic world. I decided to switch over to the audiobook for the second half of Never Been Kissed by Timothy Janovsky. I thought that the story was okay but trying to get the audiobook to play on the Hoopla was frustrating. I listen to a lot of audiobooks on Hoopla and have never run into a book that wouldn’t play if downloaded before this one. Taken by Love by Melissa Foster was a quick and enjoyable romance. My favorite book of the week was Our Last Days in Barcelona by Chanel Cleeton.

I am currently reading 3 books again this week. I didn’t pick up The Latecomer by Jean Hanff Korelitz for the past two weeks. I really need to try to review it in May so I am going to have to make this book a priority this week. I started listening to A Perfect Blood by Kim Harrison late in the week. I am only a third of the way through the book but I am hooked. I decided to read Of Shadow and Stone by Michelle Muto on my computer at work while eating lunch since I could borrow a copy through Kindle Unlimited and read it on the Kindle Cloud Reader. I enjoyed it enough that I read a bit more of it once I got home from work.

  1. Glad you had a quiet week and that you didn’t have any storm damage! We didn’t get any damage either thankfully.

Oh wow! No new reads?! I had a few weeks of that last month I feel like. April was quiet for releases on my list! Lol. Hope you enjoy the little break to your TBR pile!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower 🙂

    • Hopefully, we will be storm free for a while. My dogs were barking the whole time the sirens were going off!

  2. I’m so glad the storms weren’t that bad! We tend to have more and more storms the last few years (climate change??). Last year several roofs flew of the houses in our streets on the cars below and all that… It was really scary and I’d never seen anything in my life…

    • Storms do seem to be happening more frequently. In 2011, my subdivision was hit by a tornado so I do pay attention to the warnings.

  3. What a great week of reading! I did a bunch of audiobooks this week because of my allergies and most of them are re-reads. Sigh.

Anyway, I hope your week of reading will be as fruitful!

    • I hope your allergies are feeling better. I have had a terrible time with allergies this year.

  4. You issue with Hoopla is odd. I think I ran into a problem once, but it was the setting I had on my phone for the app. I couldn’t figure out how to fix it, so I just reinstalled to get the pre-sets. Yes, sometimes, no news IS good news. I love quiet weeks too.

    • I kind of think that the issue might have been with that particular book. I restarted my phone and uninstalled the app but could never get it to work properly. I use Hoopla a lot and this is the first time I have had a problem in a long time. I am listening to a book now with no issues.

  5. Good that the storms didn’t bring any severe damage and yay for finishing up five books. I love quiet weeks of just getting things done and resting. Loved the Chanel Cleeton, too. 🙂

    Have a good week, Carole!

  6. Great post. You really did some mixed-variety reading this time. Do you read several at a time like me, or do you focus on each one all the way through?

    • I usually have 2 or 3 going at the same time but in different formats – digital, audio, and print.

  7. Are those azaleas in the instagram picture? They’re beautiful! I love a nice calm week and hope you are having a another one with lots of good reading! I really want to read Chanel Cleeton’s books so I’m so glad to see you listed that as the favorite of your recent readings!

    • Those are azaleas. The former owners of my house were gardeners so I am reaping the rewards. I think that you would really like Chanel Cleeton’s books!
