I am really excited to participate in The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Reading Reality.

My Life

I keep thinking that things are going to slow down and that is not happening. My husband and I are both over Covid and back at work. We are both still exhausted though. We went to bed at 8:30 pm one night and took a long nap on another evening. I just haven’t had the energy to do some of the things that I normally do and hope that changes very soon. The crew installing our backsplash finished up this week. I am happy with it and glad to be able to use my kitchen again.

In other news, my oldest daughter got engaged over Memorial Day. They stopped by last weekend and we discussed plans for the wedding. I shared with them the amount that I would be able to contribute and the next thing I knew we were booking a venue for September 23rd. The place we are using specializes in weddings and handles almost everything which is good since we don’t have a lot of time. We are going dress shopping next weekend. I have booked a photographer. We still need to figure out a wedding arch for the ceremony. Other than that, the only thing left should be flowers and a DJ. I wasn’t planning to pay for a wedding this year but we’ll make it work even if that means cutting back in other areas.

How was your week?

What I’m Reading

I was able to finish 2 books this week. I enjoyed Man of War by T.J. London and thought that the full cast narration was very well done. It turned out the Cold, Cold Bones by Kathy Reichs was the escape that I needed this week.

My goal is to make some progress with December ’41 by William Martin before the holiday weekend is over. I am about halfway through Elsewhere by Alexis Schaitkin and hope to finish it today since it is a rather short book. I started listening to Thank You for Listening by Julia Whelan as soon as I had it downloaded on my phone. I have listened to about a third of the book and love it so far.

Books Added

The Widowmaker by Hannah Morrissey (Publisher); Thank You for Listening by Julia Whelan (Publisher)

  1. Sorry to hear you caught the Covid. That’s never fun. But wow! Congrats for your daughter! That’s amazing! After sitting through many a cousin’s wedding and being in my sister’s, I can definitely say I want something on the smaller scale! But that’s awesome you got a venue that does the bulk of the planning! That’s got to be a huge stress reliever.

Nice new reads! Those are all new to me ones but I hope you enjoy them all!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower 🙂

  2. I know what you mean about hoping for a slow down and it not happening. At least we have less medical appts this week. Exciting about the wedding but that is not slowing down either. I love your reads this week!

Anne – Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post

  3. I do not know whether to congratulate or console with you for being done with Covid and still tired and for your daughter’s wedding announcement. 🙂 Kidding, these are good things and what a great mom you are to already have some of the big list items ticced off. My cousin and my nephew are getting married on that date, too. Yay for the backsplash project getting done.

Man of War sounds good and I’ve enjoyed the previous books from the author and that group of narrators.

Have a good week, Carole and hope your energy comes back.

  4. Glad you and your husband are getting over covid.
I did not make the connection that Kathy Reichs wrote the books Bones was based on. I need to see if my library has that series.

  5. Congratulations to your daughter! I am impressed that they are doing a wedding in less than three months. That is light speed for a wedding. I am sure it will be wonderful. Glad to see you are enjoying the Whelan book. I am looking forward to it.

  6. I hope you both are feeling better.
I know my life continues to move too quickly for me to keep up.
Glad you enjoyed Man of War. I have had difficulty with the app but will keep trying.
I like the look of your books. I’m going to check The Widowmaker and Thank You for Listening.
Have a good week and Happy Reading!

  7. I’ve heard from many that the fatigue after Covid is terrible. I hope this week finds you with more energy and stamina. Congrats on your daughter’s engagement! That’s a lot to plan between now and September! Sounds like you already have a lot in place. I hope you’re having a great week, Carole!
