I am really excited to participate in The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Reading Reality.

My Life

It is so hot! I feel really bad for anyone dealing with this heat that has to work outside or doesn’t have air conditioning. It was perfect weather to spend some time hanging out in my pool though.

Last Sunday, we hosted a gathering of 22 people including the people in our household. It was my mother-in-law’s 88th birthday and she seemed happy to see everyone. We set up tables in our newly air-conditioned garage which worked out perfectly since we could wheel my mother-in-law’s wheelchair right in and she didn’t have to deal with a single step. (She is very frightened of taking any steps in her wheelchair) We were only missing a couple of family members and my dogs were only slightly embarrassing so it was a good day.

I took a couple of days off from the blog at the start of the week. I was just too exhausted from hosting a large part on Sunday to get a post together for Monday. I had a hard time sleeping thought and felt pretty rough on Monday so I skipped posting on Tuesday. I tried to get caught up later in the week but got distracted by the January 6th Committee and my pool. I will shoot for normal next week, whatever that is anymore.

How was your week?

What I’m Reading

I really enjoyed listening to Ever After by Kim Harrison and am mad at myself for putting off these books for so long! It took a while but I finally finished December ’41 by William Martin which turned out to be a fantastic historical thriller. For a change of pace, I listened to Space Academy Dropouts by C.T. Phipps & Michael Suttkus which was a fun and often funny space story.

I am almost done reading I Told You This Would Happen by Elaine Murphy and hope to have finished by the time you are reading this post. I am about 25% into Storm Gathering by Rebecca Zanetti and cannot wait to see how things work out for Greyson and Maureen.

Books Added

Maame by Jessica George (Publisher); Paris Daillencourt is About to Crumble by Alexis Hall (Publisher)

  1. It’s so fun to have larger gatherings again. Even though it sometimes feels a bit weird, it’s so great to have family together again! And 88 is an amazing birthday to celebrate 🙂

  2. Glad the party went well! That’s always a plus! Yeah this heat is killing me! I think this week we should be back in the 80s for a time since we’ve incoming rain. Omg…it’s going to be so nice! I mean, the temps are usually ones that would still have me inside, but after all these 100+ temps, upper 80s is likely going to feel so nice! Lol.

Nice new reads! Those are new to me ones but I hope you enjoy them!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower 🙂

  3. I am wiped out when I host a gathering as well. I am an introvert and it is so hard to bounce back. I added quite a few books to the stacks this week. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  4. It’s a lot of work to host such a big party, but what a wonderful thing to celebrate! It’s weather like this that reminds me how much I hate summer every year.

  5. I’m glad your gathering went well even though it was exhausting. The heat, the politics, the Covid, everything is exhausting which is why we just stay home and it’s great. You’re reading some great books!

  6. Sounds like a wonderful birthday party! Your line about the dogs made me laugh. 🙂 And yes it’s been so hot everywhere it seems like. Yeesh.

Anyway hoe you have a great new week!

  7. A party with 22 people is a big deal. I think the most I’ve had over at my place was people at any one time but my apartment is small. lol

  8. I’m glad the family gathering went well and the air conditioned garage sounds perfect for it! Enjoy your new books. I’m not loving the heat either – I think mainly because with the dog I can’t completely avoid it now whereas in the past I just stayed inside when it was crazy hot. Have a great week!

  9. looks like you had a long exhausting week there, hosting parties can be so draining for sure. But I see you have a Rebecca Zanetti, I just LOVE her stuff.

Hope you have a relaxing week Carole.

  10. Wow, that was a big family gathering. Sounds like it went well, even though is left you exhausted. I like the cover of Storm Gathering. Hope your week is off to a good start!
