I am really excited to participate in The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Reading Reality.

My Life

This week we said goodbye to my mother-in-law. It was a week of funeral planning, looking through old photos, and spending time with family. We attended the visitation on Wednesday and the funeral on Thursday. My youngest daughter drove home from college once again and the newlyweds were also able to attend. As you would expect, it was an emotional week.

We are trying to get our life back to normal. My husband and I have lost quite a bit of sleep over the past couple of weeks but that seems to be getting better. I went back to work on Friday. I had only planned to be away from work for 3 days, not 7, and to say that I am way behind is an understatement. I am hoping to get back to our normal schedule and activities this week.

How was your week?

What I’m Reading

I am trying to get back to reading. I really enjoyed Such Sharp Teeth by Rachel Harrison. I finally finished listening to The Witch with No Name by Kim Harrison when I went back to work on Friday. A Little Too Late by Sarina Bowen was the perfect escape while I did a few things around the house on Saturday.

I am still reading Bad Girls Drink Blood by S.L. Choi and hope to dedicate some quality reading time to it today. I have only read a few pages of Dark Room Etiquette by Robin Roe and am ready to see where the story goes. I have listened to about 20% of A Deadly Education by Naomi Novik and am finding it enjoyable. I am going to attempt to get caught up with this series during the month of October if I can – wish me luck!

Books Added

Premeditated Myrtle, How to Get Away with Myrtle, Cold-Blooded Myrtle, and In Myrtle Peril by Elizabeth C. Bunce (Publisher) – The ducks are my impractical purchase of the week and I have no regrets.

    • I have the kind of job that the work just kind of waits for me to come back to tackle it. I am slowly working my way through things.

  1. Sorry again to hear of your loss. Hope things are going better for your family.

Nice new reads! Those are new to me ones! Cute duckies too! I saw these as well and bought myself the Mummy one and maybe an extra one for my Halloween giveaway…which I still need to pick a book for! Eek!!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower 🙂

  2. I’m sure you’re emotionally exhausted along with the physical side of lost sleep. Wishing you well as you work to get things back to normal even as you still grieve.

Lots of spooky books in your reading pile. I read a few last month, but hope to add a few more during Kimberly’s Fraterfest.

Hopefully things start to get caught up and you have a good week, Carole.

  3. I can only imagine how emotional and hectic this past week+ has been. Normal sounds great. I hope you enjoy the Naomi Novik series. I just finished it and loved it. El really has a lot of growth for one so young.

  4. I imagine you felt like you needed to sleep for a week after the past few months! It sounds like an emotional week but I’m glad both of your daughters were able to be there. I love the ducks! Totally worth it! Good luck getting caught up with everything and have a great week!

  5. I know how my work stacks up when I’m away, so I can only imagine you’re in a similar boat. That being said, you’ve had some big milestones happening in life this week, and there’s no shame in taking the time you need to attend to those. Work can always wait!

    • I am slowly working my way through the stacks on my desk. I won’t stress about it. Things will get done as soon as I can get to them.

  6. Oh I’m so sorry to hear that. Sending lots of prayers and well wishes to you and your family.

Such sharp Teeth looks so good, I read the sample over at Amazon and decided I needed to get it. 🙂
