My Life
This week was consumed by my daughter’s move. I helped her get a few things together throughout the week and my basement looked like a storm had come through with items everywhere. On Friday, my husband picked up the U-Haul and my older daughter and her husband came to help us get everything loaded. She’s been away at school before but this is different. They left Saturday morning and my husband will be flying home after dropping off the U-Haul sometime today. It is kind of strange how empty the house feels right now.
I had planned to spend most of my free time this week doing some blog hopping. Unfortunately, we lost internet for a couple of days which made that impossible. By the time internet was restored, we were in the last (and more frantic) stages of getting ready for my daughter’s move. I am crossing my fingers that this will be an uneventful and quiet week.
How was your week?
What I’m Reading
I read 4 books again this past week. I had a great time with Capture the Sun by Jessie Mihalik to kick off my week. I was hooked by Before She Finds Me by Heather Chavez from the first chapter. Seventh Grave and No Body by Darynda Jones was just as good as I had hoped it would be. I loved that Holiday in Death by J.D. Robb kept me guessing until the very end.
I have read around half of Someone Just Like You by Meredith Schorr and am really getting hooked. I have listened to not quite half of Rogue by Elle Kennedy and am curious to see what might happen next in the story.
Books Added
Last to Leave the Room by Caitlin Starling (Publisher); The Carnivale of Curiosities by Amiee Gibbs (Publisher); The Demon Sword Asperides by Sarah Jean Horwitz (Publisher)

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
That is such a bittersweeet feeling. Best of luck to your daughter at school, and best of luck to you guys as you adjust! We’re going through a similar big move later this August…
Curiosities looks fun!
It’s terrible when our kids leave. ((HUGS)) It sounds like all went well with the move though. No internet for a couple of days is pretty punishing in this day and age.
Best of luck to your daughter! Mine is starting college in August, but living at home the first year. It’s still a strange feeling now that she’s an adult even though she’s still at home. Being without internet for a few days would be so frustrating! Glad you are plugged in again. Enjoy your week!
My weekend update post is HERE. — Diana
Losing internet really screws everything up when you think about it nowadays. We rely on internet for just about everything now. I know when my internet goes out so does the TV.
I’m just starting the audio of Capture the Sun finally. I’ve loved the series. That sucks about the Internet. I hope things go well for your daughter. I moved out when I went to college and never lived at home again. I was the independent sort. I can’t believe June is over but I’m looking forward to the holidayish weekend coming up to do some more reading and relaxing.
No worries about not getting out and about on the blogs. Sounds like your week was crazy busy with the move and watching over your pooch still. Yeah, hugs for feeling empty after she moved out this time around. Got through a good stack of books.
Have a good week, Carole!
Sounds like a busy week. Hope your daughter loves Ohio! At least you got some reading done. And the new books look awesome.
So frustrating about the internet. I have very low tolerance to tech issues. I know you’ve got to be glad to have the franticness of the move over but the empty house feeling definitely takes some getting used to. I wish your daughter the absolute best with her move and everything. Have a wonderful week.
Moving is always hectic!
It is strange when all the kids are out! Sounds like you’ve had a hectic week! Capture the Sun looks good! Enjoy your week, Carole!
I hope your daughter’s move went well! And that your internet/power is back to normal.
So far I have moved my daughter three times so I feel you!
