I am really excited to participate in The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Reading Reality.

My Life

This week was a little busy. I am still dealing with computer issues at work. It looks like we are going to start fresh with new accounting software so I have to learn new software and we can’t bring over the data that I have worked hard to compile over the past 10 years. It is the right decision but I am not excited about it.

Tuesday night, I was able to go see Katherine Center. I thought that the turnout was wonderful and I even ran into some old friends. She was a very entertaining speaker and was able to keep the crowd laughing throughout the event. (See my photo below)

I haven’t mentioned that I have been trying to find a 2nd job for the past couple of weeks. I have been pretty picky about it though and have only looked at jobs that would allow me to be around books. I accepted a position at Barnes & Noble as a bookseller this week. The pay isn’t great but the extra money will help us get caught up on some bills, plus I will get a pretty awesome discount on books. I start next Saturday and am a little nervous about juggling 2 jobs, the blog, and Instagram, and still find time to do a little reading but I am sure I will figure it out.

How was your week?

What I’m Reading

I read 4 books again this week. I enjoyed The Weaver and the Witch Queen by Genevieve Gornichec. I was surprised by just how much I liked Mister Magic by Kiersten White. The Demon Sword Asperides by Sarah Jean Horwitz was a fun middle-grade novel. I found The Valkyrie’s Shadow by Tiana Warner to be incredibly exciting.

I am actually between books as I write this post but I plan to start reading The Bone Hacker by Kathy Reichs later tonight and The Turncoat by T.J. London is up next in my audiobook queue.

Books Added

Masters of Death by Olivie Blake (Publisher); Rook by William Ritter (Publisher)

  1. I saw your Center photos on IG. I love her books! Look at that stack too. How fun! Sounds like it will be a challenging time at work. Good luck with the migration/upgrade, and also with your job at B&N. I am sure you will be an excellent bookseller, but yes, that’s a lot on your plate.

  2. I’ve always wanted to work in a bookstore myself but I must admit I do like the structure of a “9-5” job better where I know when I will be off and such. The uncertainty of schedules would get to me. But totally understand the need for a second job. I think I would enjoy the socialization of being around other readers all the time hence why I always thought I should’ve worked in a bookstore! Lol. Plus that discount!

Nice new reads! I’m rather curious about this book of Blake’s! If it’s got vampires I’m usually willing to see what it’s all about! Lol. Hope you enjoy your new reads and the new job!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

  3. oh wow two jobs up ahead for you, busy bee you are going to be haha Good luck with it though. At least the bookseller job shouldn’t be too taxing for you. Love meeting authors we love, its always such a fun experience.

Hope you have a great week carole!

  4. That’s so exciting you got to meet Katherine Center! I hope the new job helps you and you don’t spend all the extra money on books. You’ll have to work to give yourself some balance. I hope the new software works out and that you have a regular backup for the future.

  5. You met Katherine Center? I just finsihed Hello Stranger this week and it’s another hit for me! I am not surprised that she can entertain a crowd! Also good luck with the new job at Barnes and Noble!

  6. Congrats on the new job! I think Barnes & Noble would certainly be rewarding for a book love

And it is hard when they make changes to software like that…

  7. Fun times getting to go see Katherine Center. Hopefully, the transition between software won’t be too awful. Yay for finding a second job you feel will deal with the bills and be one you can enjoy a bit. Wishing it goes well as you re-figure all the life details with the new job.

    Have a good week, Carole!

  8. I just finished the Jackaby series, so I’m really curious about Rook. I’m not sure that I’m ready yet for a spin-off, but I’m really curious to read it eventually.

Best of luck with the new job!

  9. That is so fantastic that you got to meet Katherine Center! I have basically all of her books on my TBR. Sorry about the computer problems. That frustrates me like nothing else. I hope you’re having a great week!
