I am really excited to participate in The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Reading Reality.

My Life

This was a much better week for me. I still felt like I was very busy but it was manageable. I worked at the bookstore on Sunday, Tuesday, and Saturday so I had a chance to recover after every shift. Our new mattress was delivered pretty late on Sunday and we seem to be getting used to it. It feels comfortable but different than our previous mattress. Isn’t it crazy how exciting something like getting a new mattress can be?

I am quite excited that I am only scheduled for 2 shifts at the bookstore this week. I feel like a lighter week will be the break that I need. I am going to do my best to get some reviews written and stay on top of blog hopping as best as I can.

How was your week?

What I’m Reading

I read 5 books this week. I started the week with The Long Game by Rachel Reid and was thrilled to get more of Shane and Ilya’s story. Starter Villain by John Scalzi was a whole lot of fun. The Curse of Tenth Grave by Darynda Jones was an incredibly entertaining listen. How to Find a Missing Girl by Victoria Wlosok kept me guessing until the very end. I paired the audiobook with my digital copy of A Study in Drowning by Ava Reid and loved the story and thought that the writing was beautiful.

I have listened to almost half of Starling House by Alix E. Harrow and cannot wait to see what will happen next. I started reading Find Him Where You Left Him Dead by Kristen Simmons and am loving spooky Jumanji vibes.

Books Added

The Olympian Affair by Jim Butcher (Publisher); The Dead Take the A Train by Cassandra Khaw and Richard Kadrey (Publisher); Bye, Baby by Carola Lovering (Publisher)

  1. Yay for a new mattress! Lol! I need to check my tag to see how old it is. I know if anything it’s close to 8 and I definitely have a divot of where I tend to sleep the most. Sadly it’s not really “flippable” since it has a bit of a pillowtop thing going on. Was trying to figure out the next “mattress” sale time and see if it’s worth looking into! Lol.

Nice new reads! Those are all new to me ones but I hope you enjoy them all!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower 🙂

  2. I’m so glad you caught a break in the schedule this week and time between shifts. LOL, I get all excited about something like a new mattress, too. Its the little things sometimes. Yay for a shorter schedule this week. Hopefully, you can take some time for yourself.
Nicely done getting through five books. Starter Villain does sound good.

    Have a great week, Carole!

  3. With the prices of mattresses these days, it’s a major purchase. I think it should stir some excitement. I don’t know anything about Starter Villain, but I give it an A+ for that cover.

  4. Robin really enjoyed the Starter Villain. I see you making good progress on the Charley Davidson series an also some In Death books. I’m enjoying the latest one right now from the library, Payback In Death. It’s fantastic. I’m getting ready for The Olympian Affair. I reread The Aeronaut’s Windlass and now I’ve got the short novella Warriorborn from KU.

Great you will have a lighter week!

  5. Slower weeks are nice. Hope you’re having a nice weekend. I like the look of the Harrow book. Been wanting to try her stuff.

  6. Glad your week was more manageable. I am going to buy Starter Villain for my friend for Christmas. Her cat looks like the one on the cover. I have The Dead Take the A Train too. Too many spooky books on the plate for this Halloween season.

  7. Yay for getting a new mattress! I got a new one last year and it took time for it to adjust to my body, but once it did I fell in love with it. Yay for five books read, and I know how much you enjoy Darynda Jones.

  8. I am glad to hear your week will be a little lighter. Definitely take time out to do something nice for yourself! I can’t wait to read Starling House and A Study in Drowning sounds so good too. I hope you have a great week, Carole!
