My Life

This was a much lighter week work-wise and I am finally over that terrible cough. Those were both very good things. I worked at the bookstore until 4:00 pm on Christmas Eve and then headed to my mom’s house to celebrate the holiday with family. My husband and I had a quiet Christmas at home which was exactly what we both needed.

I spent a ton of time this week trying to fix some Jetpack problems on the blog. I wish that I had just left everything alone in the first place but since I don’t have the power of time travel, I will just move on. If you subscribe to this blog through email (and I hope that you do), you will need to resubscribe since I have lost all of my Jetpack data. I appreciate everyone who takes the time to resubscribe and I promise not to mess with those settings ever again 🙂

I got off work early on Friday and went to lunch with my mom. My husband was still at work so we went to Red Lobster (which I have been craving). I had not been there in a very long time and I think that both me and my mom had a nice time.

How was your week?

What I’m Reading

I finished 4 books this week. I typically review everything that I read but have allowed myself to pick up some books lately that I purchased and don’t have to review. I loved the Downside Ghosts series when I first read it a little over 10 years ago and the audio only added to the story. Unholy Magic, City of Ghosts, and Sacrificial Magic by Stacia Kane are all wonderful reads if you like dark urban fantasy. These books are not for everyone since the main character is a drug addict and there is a ton of slang throughout each book. I spent much of Christmas Day reading Sanctuary of the Shadow by Aurora Ascher. It wasn’t a perfect book but I did enjoy it quite a bit.

I am just picking up books that sound fun right now and what could be more fun than Finlay Donovan? I am only a few chapters into Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice by Elle Cosimano but am enjoying it so far. I am currently listening to the fifth and final book in the Downside Ghosts series, Chasing Magic by Stacia Kane, and can’t wait to see how things wrap up because I honestly cannot remember from my first read.

Books Added

That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon by Kimberly Lemming (Publisher); Ever After Always by Chloe Liese (Publisher); Prima Facie by Suzie Miller (Publisher)

  1. Glad to hear your cough is gone. I think it found me. Boo! Sounds like you did some great/fun stuff with. your downtime, too. Sorry about the Jetpack drama. I remember those days. Hated it! And, yes. Finlay is always a good time.

  2. Glad you had an easier time at work this week! That’s always nice! I’m not exactly ready to go back myself this week, but best to get back to normal I suppose! Lol.

Nice new reads! These are new to me ones but I hope you enjoy them all!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

  3. yeah I don’t plan to mess with Jetpack. I don’t know everything it does. I only know that when they stopped auto sharing to Twitter was about the time I started trying to get to other social media and that has been a heck of a mess. I still have the most followers on Twitter. Book Twitter is ok but the rest of it is a dumpster fire. I have yet to get one thing to work in FS Poster but I’ve been too busy to do anything with it for the last 2 months. Here’s hoping for a better year ahead!

  4. So glad you are feeling better and had a good Christmas! It’s always frustrating when I know I did something to make an issue worse but getting caught up on it definitely doesn’t help. I hope you have a wonderful week and a Happy New Year!

  5. Glad to hear this week was better/easier. And good riddance to the cough. The quiet Christmas at home sounds like a good one. I haven’t been to Red Lobster in years, despite there being one maybe 10 minutes from the house. Living near the coast we have so many options for fresh seafood that I just rarely think about Red Lobster. Glad you enjoyed it!

  6. I am so glad you are finally over your cough, Carole. It sounds like you had a nice Christmas. I like the idea of a quiet Christmas. Ours was mostly quiet. We did have family over–just six of us. We had a simple spaghetti and meatball dinner–easy prep and cleaning. I do love the Finlay Donovan books and look forward to reading Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice. I am glad you are enjoying it. I hope you have a wonderful New Year, Carole.

  7. Happy to hear things were a bit more quiet for you at work. I hate it when I have issues with the blog! Glad to hear you got yours sorted. I’m on Blogger and I’ll probably stay there, because it’s easy, works and I’m too lazy to try anything else right now, lol! I remember loving Red Lobster (garlic cheese biscuits!), but haven’t been there in years. I don’t even know if they have one close to where we live now. Happy New Year, Carole! 🙂
