Weekly Wrap Up #434

Posted November 3, 2024 by Carole in Stacking the Shelves / 8 Comments

I am really excited to participate in The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Reading Reality.

My Life

This was a pretty calm week. After fighting traffic to work on Monday, I discovered that our entire office was covered in a layer of grime from the blasting in the unit that had the fire. I grabbed a few things to work on and was able to work from home that day which was nice. Too bad I had already driven all the way to work though. They will take down our ceiling and replace ductwork starting sometime next week so I will have about a week of working from home, which should be good.

One of my co-workers at the library invited me to her in-person book club which met Friday night. We read Remarkably Bright Creature and everyone enjoyed the book. I am thrilled to officially be a part of a book club.

I have an in-person interview for a full-time spot at the library this week. I am trying not to get too excited about it but I really hope that I can get the position.

How was your week?

What I’m Reading

I finished 5 books this week. Finlay Donovan Digs Her Own Grave by Elle Cosimano was such a fun read. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed I Did Something Bad by Pyae Moe Thet War. The Bloodless Princes by Charlotte Bond was a solid addition to the series. I read Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt and can understand why so many people rave about it. I just had to pick up Toto by A.J. Hackwitch when I found out it was a Wizard of Oz retelling from Toto’s point of view.

I am currently reading The Shadows Rule All by Abigail Owen and am enjoying it quite a bit. I started Tender is the Flesh by Agustina Bazterrica on Halloween since it seemed like a fitting read for the day.

Books Added

This Will Be Fun by E.B. Asher (Publisher); The Collaborators by Michael Idov (Publisher); Puppy Love at Mistletoe Junction by Shannon Richard (Publisher)

The Unworthy by Agustina Bazterrica (Publisher); Christmas with the Queen by Hazel Gaynor and Heather Webb (Publisher); Cold Eternity by S.A. Barnes (Publisher)

  1. I wish you the best with the interview. It’s inspiring to see you going for it. *applause, applause* An IRL book club, how fun! I adored Creatures. It’s the type of uplit I enjoy. I was eyeing Toto yesterday. I am curious.

  2. Fingers crossed for you for the library position! That’s exciting! And yay for the book club! I’ve never been much of a book club person. First I fear that I won’t like the book choice even if I am in the right genre club. Then I worry I might read too slow for the club and not be where I need to be or that I’ll read too fast for the club and forget everything by the time it meets…it stresses me out so much that I just decided it’s best to not be in one! Lol.

Nice new reads! I am kind of curious about the Toto book and oh wow! I nearly forgot The Shadows Rule All releases soon! I was on Entangled’s list for that but I guess the delay might have mucked things up! Luckily I preordered a copy as “just in case” scenario! Will have to read that one as soon as I get caught up on my Broadbent readathon! Lol.

Hope you enjoy the new reads!

I hope you’re having a great week! And all the fingers crossed and good vibes sent for the interview.
