I am really excited to participate in The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Reading Reality.
My Life
My bingo card did not include this week’s events. On Tuesday evening, I had a sudden vision change. I assumed that I was having an ocular migraine even though it looked different than others that I have had in the past. When my vision was still bad on Thursday, I made an eye appointment for the next day, the earliest they could work me in. At the appointment, I was quickly sent to a retina specialist where I learned that I have a torn retina. I had a less-than-pleasant procedure done right away to repair the tear. I am at high risk for a retina detachment, which would require immediate surgery for the next couple of weeks until the repair heals. I am also at high risk of having a tear occur in my other eye.
I have been given a few restrictions for now. Believe it or not, I am under doctor’s orders to stop reading! My vision is so bad right now that I wouldn’t be reading anyway but I hate that I am not allowed to pick up a book. I also need to avoid my phone but can get on the computer a bit.
I guess that I will be taking a bit of a break. I plan to continue to post on Thursday and Sunday but will pause other posts until my restrictions are lifted.
How was your week?
What I’m Reading
I finished three audiobooks this week. I devoured Iron Kissed by Patricia Briggs. The GraphicAudio production is amazing and I think this book gets better and better each time I read it. I enjoyed All the Missing Pieces by Catherine Cowles and hope to read more of the author’s work very soon. Into the Woods by Jenny Holiday was a fantastic romance featuring two likable characters.

I am about 40% of the way through Nemesis by Anna Banks and I doubt that will change any time soon. The book is good but my eyes are not.

Books Added

The Last Wizards’ Ball by Charlaine Harris (Publisher); Nobody’s Fool by Harlan Coben (Publisher); The Business Trip by Jessie Garcia (Publisher)

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Stop reading!?!?!? That is just evil, but you must
Oh no! I’m wishing you a speedy recovery!
OMG! A doctor telling you not to read? Is this a horror movie? That’s dreadful. I guess this is where audiobooks would shine, but I am definitely not an audiobook reader. I hope everything goes well (went well?) with the procedure and that you have a safe and speedy recovery!
Nice new reads! These are new to me ones but I hope you enjoy them once you’re able to read them!
Here’s my StS
Have a GREAT day!

That is scary! Ocular migraines are sort of unsettling, but to have to have surgery. I am glad they were able to act quickly and I hope your recuperation goes smoothly.
My brother had a detached retina and came through it fine. Thank goodness for audiobooks! Wishing you a happy, healthy holiday and new year!

Dang, how does that even happen? I hope it heals quickly.
I’m so sorry about your eyes! My brother-in-law had his retinas start to shred and tear a few years ago, and had to have a laser procedure on both of his eyes. It was scary, but it solved the problem and saved his eyesight. He’s back reading and painting again and hasn’t had any more problems with his retinas tearing or detaching. I wish the same good outcome for you!!
Oh my goodness! How terrifying. I hope you’re feeling better and have a lot of great audio books! Happy New Year Carole!
