Stacking the Shelves #96

Posted December 2, 2017 by Carole in Stacking the Shelves / 44 Comments

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.

It was back to work and back to reality this week.  I am not sure that I really like reality because working is no fun and really cuts into my reading time.  It was actually a pretty busy week with lots of evening events that I needed to attend for my daughter.

Today I am taking my daughter to try out for the All State Honor Band which is an all day event along with a 4 hour round trip.  I should be exhausted by the end of the day.  I think that I was able to get online at the event last year but I am not sure.  It may be a day or two before I can respond to comments depending on whether I end up having access to the internet or not.

Books for Review

Sometimes I Lie by Alice Feeney (NetGalley)

I received an email that this book would be available at a Read Now for the first 100 people so I jumped on it.  It sounds like a really good read.

Books Purchased
The Dry by Jane Harper (Kindle Purchase)
Hunting Ground by Patricia Briggs (Kindle Purchase)
Flunked by Jen Calonita (Kindle Freebie)
And After by Sarah Lyons Fleming (Audible Purchase)
All the Stars in the Sky by Sarah Lyons Fleming (Audible Purchase)
Mountain Man Omnibus by Keith C. Blackmore (Audible Purchase)
Red Sister by Mark Lawrence (Audible Purchase)
I actually did a pretty good job at resisting all of the wonderful deals out in the world during the past week.  I grabbed The Dry for $2.99 since I have heard so many people rave about it.  I love the Alpha & Omega series so I grabbed Hunting Ground as soon as I saw it on sale for $1.99 even though I have already read it.  I never can resist a freebie so I grabbed Flunked which looks like a really cute read.  I used up a couple of Audible credits and a $5 coupon by purchasing And After, All the Stars in the Sky, Mountain Man Omnibus, and Red Sister
What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own STS post!

  1. I think you need a round the world cruise for three months or something similar to give you a real break…your life sounds so busy and tiring. I'd never be able to keep up that pace! And yes to Alpha & Omega! I love Brother Wolf when he makes an appearance!

  2. Wow! You're just the go go go type! Lol! Hope you get a rest in again soon! Lots of new to me reads too! I hope you enjoy them all!

My STS will be up tomorrow so be sure to stop by then!

    Have a GREAT day!

  3. Yeah, getting back to work can be brutal. Hope you get some down time at your daughter's event.

I fell off the wagon and bought four Audible books on sale and four ebooks along with a stack of books from The Book Outlet sale. So bad… but I know I'll love these and I paid a fraction of the regular price so the guilt is low. LOL

  4. Keeping my fingers crossed for your daughter! I hope the audition goes well. I was good this week. Only bought 2 books, but they were really cheap ($1.49, $1.99), and they were series I was already reading, so must haves!

  5. I got the email for Sometimes I lie but I wasn't fast enough to grab one so I wished for it. It sounds really good.

  6. I only bought a couple of Ebooks that I had been meaning to read but didn't really find any deals that really appealed to me. But glad to see that you did here. Hope you have fun at your daughter's event!!

  7. Vacations are much more fun than having to work, I agree! How did the auditions go? Sounds like a busy day–with lots of time on the road. Sometimes I Lie looks like it will be very good. The cover of Flunked has me wanting to take a closer look at it. It sounds like a lot of fun. πŸ™‚ You can't go wrong with Patricia Briggs.

I hope you enjoy all your new books, Carole! Have a great week!

  8. Fingers crossed on the All State Honor Band audition! That's awesome! Going back to work is definitely brutal – especially when you didn't really have a break during your vacation! Enjoy your new books!

  9. I hope your daughter's try out went well! I downloaded Sometimes I Lie this week too. As soon as that first 100 people email went out, I jumped on it quick lol Fingers crossed it'll be a good read for both of us. Have a great week, Carole! πŸ™‚

  10. I don't know what the book is about but the cover to Sometimes I Lie is brilliant! Oh, and I know how much you enjoy your Patricia Briggs books so you must be really happy with that one. πŸ™‚
