Weekly Wrap Up #409

Posted April 21, 2024 by Carole in Stacking the Shelves / 10 Comments

I am really excited to participate in The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Reading Reality.

My Life

I apologize for being largely quiet on the blog this past week. I decided to skip posting on Monday but had planned to write reviews to post on Tuesday and Wednesday after getting home from my day job on Monday. I usually write reviews and work on the blog after dinner but on Monday night the power went off just as I was finishing up dinner and remained off for a couple of hours. I took it as a sign that I needed a break. The power outage was strange because there were no weather issues or anything that would normally cause these things.

I have only had 2 shifts at the bookstore the past two weeks but I was back up to 3 this week and felt the difference. I didn’t have a lot of energy to get a lot of other things done. My dog, Molly, is happy to be out of the cone and all 3 of the dogs are still demanding walks at least once a day.

How was your week?

What I’m Reading

I was able to finish 3 audiobooks again this week. I finished listening to Ghost Station by S.A. Barnes early in the week and love that the story kept me on my toes. The Poisons We Drink by Bethany Baptiste was a wonderful listen that immediately hooked me. I loved First Contact by Kim Harrison enough that I downloaded the second audiobook in the series right away to get more of the story.

This is the week I will get back to The Night Ends with Fire by K.X. Song – I pinky promise! I am close to finishing Leather & Lark by Brynne Weaver and hope to see how things wrap up later today. I am about 75% of the way through Totality by Kim Harrison and am really enjoying it!

Books Added

Heavenbreaker by Sara Wolf (Publisher); Thirsty by Jas Hammonds (Publisher); The Corpse in the Closet by Lucy Score (Publisher)

  1. That is odd that your power was out without any weather issues. It must have been a sign. Glad to hear Molly is all healed and ready to walked the neighborhood.

  2. That’s weird. I hate when the power goes out. We had that happen last July. JULY. As in high heated temperatures with lows in the 90s! It was a miserable time to be without the AC. And it lasted days! Like the entire Fourth of July weekend. I was miserable. At least Monday was just in the 80s and by nightfall it’s a little lower. But eek. Hopefully it was just the one time fluke. I have horrible flashbacks now to 2 dreadful summers where we had no power. That’s more than I ever wanted to experience in my lifetime! Lol. Glad to hear Molly is without the Cone of Shame! I assume her healing went well then? Glad you’re more on the mend too, hopefully that is, since you’re back to 3 shifts at B&N! Which I saw your store post! So cool! I’d be so hardpressed as to which book I’d recommend! I mean…are you allowed to recommend series? Because you know me, I’d totally be recommending Stephanie’s books! Lol.

Nice new reads! All new to me ones but I hope you enjoy each and every one of them!

    Here’s my StS

  3. I hate power outtages! But it sounds like this one ended up giving you a bit of a needed break. And I just checked out Ghost Station from my library yesterday! It’s what I’ll be reading this week. 😀

  4. I’ve been hit or miss visiting lately so I apologize. My MIL died suddenly 2 weeks ago and I feel like we are still reeling from that. Glad your pup is now coneless. Bet they are thrilled!

  5. I don’t know how you get any blogging done. I think all I would want to do is sleep! They’re improving the power grid here which has led to several power outages lately. We’ve been fairly lucky in terms of how long but it is still not much fun. I hope you’re having a great week!
