November 2017
November is gone! I can’t believe that we are already closing in on the end of the year. It was another busy month at my house. Once again, band took center stage in our lives. I had thought that we would be done with Marching Band by the time November started but the high school’s football team just didn’t want to lose, which was great! The school went through several rounds of playoffs and eventually made it to the state championship game! They lost that game by a single point but it was an exciting year.
November is not always the best weather to be out supporting the football team. These photos were taken a game that was played in the sleet…not a lot of fun. Everything was slippery and wet and the mom in me was afraid my daughter would fall off of the drum major stand. I made it through 3 quarters of football and then took my wet cold self home to thaw out.
In other news, I had a week off during the month which was great. I need more weeks off! During that week I focused on getting caught up with some reading. I called it Operation 9 Books in 9 Days and was able to do it. I picked some rather short books to tackle during the week totaling 2,340 pages.
I am linking this post to the Monthly Wrap-Up at Feed Your Fiction Addiction.

How was your month? Do you have any reading or blogging goals for December?
A one point loss – that sucks. Awesome picks of the band. I remember being in marching band and HATING it when the weather got bad…or too hot. Neither was comfortable. You had a great reading month and I'm glad you enjoyed your time off. I am so glad you liked Chalk Man as I am planning on it for a January read. Have a great weekend.
It would have been great to win but if we had to lose at least it was close.
It's amazing how time flies so fast and we're now approaching 2018!
And ohh, looks like you had a wonderful November Carole. Hope you'll have wonderful reading month this December as well π

It is really hard to believe!
LOL! What a dilemma. On one hand, yay team, but on the other…more time on band. π I love the way you support her efforts.
Nice stack of books you were able to read and review. I loved Christmas Cowboy Hero, too.
Have a great December, Carole!
I think that if nothing else, my kids will be able to look back at their childhood and remember that her parents were always there. I do a lot of things wrong but I am always there.
How great is that football team made it to the playoffs! A one point loss, man…. Your are one busy Mom but a supportive one and that is just wonderful. You read some really good books last month. I picked The Chalk Man as my BoTH pick, just waiting on it to get here. *stalking mail lady* Have a great weekend!
She does keep us busy! I loved The Chalk Man and hope you do as well π
Looks to be a good reading month π
And yes bad weather for that
I did good in November but my totals would not have been as impressive if I hadn't had a week off.
Bad weather is never fun.
True!
15 books, that is awesome. Bad weather is no fun, I could not imagine being out in something like that.
Thanks, Nadene!
Losing my one point has got to be tough! But it's quite an accomplishment to make it that far. Congratulations on your 9 in 9!
I am quite proud of the kids for making it as far as they did.
Thank you for sharing this post, Carole. The Christmas Cowboy Hero will be my read next week. I want to read it close to Christmas day. ?β€οΈ
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did, Geybie!
I think you deserve the whole winter off after all you have had to do with the band stuff!
I agree but at least it is over for now!
You did great with Operation 9! I kind of want to do the same in my Christmas Vacation. I want to read more books! π
I will do some reading over Christmas but I don't get much time off so it won't be as many books.
That's great that you finished your Goodreads Challenge. Alas, I won't be able to. Congrats! π ~Aleen
That's too bad, Aleen. I would change my goal so that I hit it and just try again next year.
How awesome to make it to the state championships, and I'm sure a 1 point loss was a heartbreaker! I love the thought of taking a week off and doing a ton of reading. Winter break is coming up soon, and reading is at the top of my list!
I wish I could take a week off more often. Reading is my favorite thing to do while I am off π
I really want to try Chalk Man. Oh boy those kids look cold!
I was definitely cold…and wet!
The team did so well! And wow… it must have been such an intense game to only have lost by a single point DD: They did good, and I am glad the marching band adventures went so well too. 15 books is a brilliant amount. You truly made the most of that week off π
It would have been great to win by a point π
Great photos. I feel sorry for everybody at that game. The weather looks awful. I hope youβre having a good December and getting lots of reading done.
Aj @ Read All The Things!
It was a pretty miserable game but they won that one so I guess it was worth it. Maybe?
My daughter was drum major in high school and they played through some miserable weather here in Michigan too. My husband and I always volunteered for the band and it was work, but fun too. Great photos–thanks for sharing your memories!
It always amazes me how hard these band kinds work. My daughter is one of the drum majors and she loves it.
Ha! And now it's halfway through Dec! Yikes! That's some awesome reading. Some in there I enjoyed, too. Playing in the sleet…oh man! That's rather mean! lol
It was pretty brutal! I can't believe that 2018 is just a few days away.
