Stacking the Shelves #152

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.

My Life
Happy 2019!  I still can’t believe that we are already in a new year but I guess it’s true.  I had a light week at work which was great.  I only worked a half day on New Year’s Eve, was off for New Year’s Day, and was able to take off Thursday just because.  My husband celebrated a birthday this week and my oldest daughter celebrates hers on Sunday.

I have had a really good week of reading.  I was able to finish a couple of books on New Year’s Eve to add to my 2018 totals and have already been able to complete 3 books in 2019.  I just hope I can keep the pace up!

Books Added

Legendary by Stephanie Garber (Purchased)
To Kill a Kingdom by Alexandra Christo (Purchased)
How to Walk Away by Katherine Center (Purchased)
Smoke & Summons by Charlie N. Holmberg (Kindle First)

I didn’t add any review books this week so I feel like I did well.  I did grab  Legendary, To Kill a Kingdom, and How to Walk Away when they were offered as Kindle Daily Deals.  I also decided to pick Smoke & Summons as one of my Kindle First picks when I saw a really favorable review.  I am not sure which book I will pick for my second choice but there is plenty of time left to decide.

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own STS post!

  1. Oh wow! Envious of all that reading time! I was sick on my days off since Christmas! So if I wasn't at work anyway, I was laying in bed sleeping.

Yay for Legendary and To Kill a Kingdom!! I LOOOOVED those two!! Did you see that Alexandra Christo (and Tricia Levenseller) will be at the St. Charles Branch on Kisker Road on March 19th? I am SUPER excited about that!! Hope you can make that one!

My STS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!

    Have a GREAT day!

  2. I'be been reading like a monster over the last week and I'm loving it! I'm feeling motivated for everything which is normal for January but lets see how it is going by March! Glad you got a few books tackled!

  3. I added The Splendor of Fear by Ambrose Ibsen to my TBR, because I love a good, scary book. I'm currently reading White Death by Christine Morgan which is a book about a FRIGHTENING blizzard in 1880s' Montana. Oh yeah, and there's a winter beast running around, too.

  4. Happy Birthday to your husband and daughter! I just saw Legendary at the bookstore today. Didn't buy it yet. Some other time for sure 🙂
    Happy weekend Carole!

  5. You had so much to celebrate! My daughter loved Legendary. I really need to make time for it before Finale come out. I hope you enjoy all your new books.

  6. We had a bunch of December birthdays bunched up like that. Neat how you got to ease into the work week gently.
Nice haul. I have How to Walk Away on my wish list.

    Enjoy your week, Carole!

  7. What a lovely week with birthdays and books. I don't know the books you got – I hope you enjoy them. Here's to another good week ahead. Anne – Books of My Heart

  8. Birthdays and holidays so close together. Sounds like a lot of fun. We have that in our family too. Enjoy those new reads.

  9. Yay for days off! My husband had a few and we really enjoyed spending time as a family. It's nice when everyone can just be around without worrying about work. I read Legendary a few months ago, but it didn't really work for me. There's too many secrets! I need more resolution, haha. I hope it's a better fit for you!

    Lindsi @ Do You Dog-ear? ?

  10. Reading and New Years Eve go well together I think. 🙂 Ours was quiet and I loved it haha.

I still need to start that Garber series.

Hope you have a fabulous week!

  11. I was having trouble choosing the two Kindle First books this month too. However, I am sure that will be one I pick. I hope you enjoy To Kill a Kingdom. I know a lot of people love it but it didn't work for me. Great job on reading so many books so far.

  12. Happy birthday to your husband and your daughter! Such close together birthdays and I love January birthdays because I have one too. I am glad you had a light and easy beginning to the year. I read To Kill a Kingdom last year and enjoyed it a lot! It's a good retelling. But the ending was a bit too wacky for me.
