I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.
My Life
Happy 2019! I still can’t believe that we are already in a new year but I guess it’s true. I had a light week at work which was great. I only worked a half day on New Year’s Eve, was off for New Year’s Day, and was able to take off Thursday just because. My husband celebrated a birthday this week and my oldest daughter celebrates hers on Sunday.
I have had a really good week of reading. I was able to finish a couple of books on New Year’s Eve to add to my 2018 totals and have already been able to complete 3 books in 2019. I just hope I can keep the pace up!
Books Added
Legendary by Stephanie Garber (Purchased)
To Kill a Kingdom by Alexandra Christo (Purchased)
How to Walk Away by Katherine Center (Purchased)
Smoke & Summons by Charlie N. Holmberg (Kindle First)
I didn’t add any review books this week so I feel like I did well. I did grab Legendary, To Kill a Kingdom, and How to Walk Away when they were offered as Kindle Daily Deals. I also decided to pick Smoke & Summons as one of my Kindle First picks when I saw a really favorable review. I am not sure which book I will pick for my second choice but there is plenty of time left to decide.
What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own STS post!
Birthday week 😀 Woot Congrats to them
So so busy!
I heard great things about these books so I hope you'll like them! Happy reading!
Thank you!
Oh wow! Envious of all that reading time! I was sick on my days off since Christmas! So if I wasn't at work anyway, I was laying in bed sleeping.
Yay for Legendary and To Kill a Kingdom!! I LOOOOVED those two!! Did you see that Alexandra Christo (and Tricia Levenseller) will be at the St. Charles Branch on Kisker Road on March 19th? I am SUPER excited about that!! Hope you can make that one!
My STS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
I will have to check out that event. I am not sure if I am familiar with any of their work though.
I'be been reading like a monster over the last week and I'm loving it! I'm feeling motivated for everything which is normal for January but lets see how it is going by March! Glad you got a few books tackled!
I had a great reading week too! I am pretty motivated this year as well.
Happy birthday to your husband and daughter! Enjoy your new books.
Aj @ Read All The Things!
Thanks, AJ!
I added The Splendor of Fear by Ambrose Ibsen to my TBR, because I love a good, scary book. I'm currently reading White Death by Christine Morgan which is a book about a FRIGHTENING blizzard in 1880s' Montana. Oh yeah, and there's a winter beast running around, too.
I am not familiar with either of those books but they sound great!
Happy Birthday to your husband and daughter! I just saw Legendary at the bookstore today. Didn't buy it yet. Some other time for sure 🙂
Happy weekend Carole!
Thanks, Czai! I have no control when it comes to Kindle sales.
You had so much to celebrate! My daughter loved Legendary. I really need to make time for it before Finale come out. I hope you enjoy all your new books.
Now I can have a break from celebrating and I must say that I am kind of ready for it.
We had a bunch of December birthdays bunched up like that. Neat how you got to ease into the work week gently.
Nice haul. I have How to Walk Away on my wish list.
Enjoy your week, Carole!
We have a 6 week span that includes Thanksgiving, Christmas, 3 birthdays, and an anniversary. There is only 1 birthday in this house that is during any other time of year. I guess I get my break now!
What a lovely week with birthdays and books. I don't know the books you got – I hope you enjoy them. Here's to another good week ahead. Anne – Books of My Heart
Thanks, Anne!
Birthdays and holidays so close together. Sounds like a lot of fun. We have that in our family too. Enjoy those new reads.
It was crazy when the kids are little but we just had a nice dinner together this time. Thanks!
Happy New Year! That's awesome you had a light work week. Those are always nice. I go back to work this week, so that should be interesting…haha

I wish every work week was like last week 🙂
Yay for days off! My husband had a few and we really enjoyed spending time as a family. It's nice when everyone can just be around without worrying about work. I read Legendary a few months ago, but it didn't really work for me. There's too many secrets! I need more resolution, haha. I hope it's a better fit for you!
Lindsi @ Do You Dog-ear? ?
My husband and I both love our time off from work. Unfortunately, I don't get a lot of vacation time so an extra day is wonderful. Sorry that Legendary didn't work for you, Lindsi!
Nice to hear you had some time off!
Katherine Center is an author I'd like to try sometime.
It was wonderful, Rachel!
Reading and New Years Eve go well together I think. 🙂 Ours was quiet and I loved it haha.
I still need to start that Garber series.
Hope you have a fabulous week!
I think reading goes with everyday 🙂
Happy birthday week to your husband. I finished a book on NYE, but still didn't hit my goal. That's okay though. I had some really great reads/listens. I do hope I get a few more in this year.

I don't really challenge myself too much with my Goodreads goal. I just have fun seeing where I end up every year.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!! and I love the covers on the books you grabbed but I am not familiar with the authors. Hope you enjoy them.
Thank you!
Wow. Birthdays and the new year in one week. That sounds like a busy week. To Kill a Kingdom was a really interesting and fun read. I hope you enjoy your new books.
It is a really busy time of year at our house!
Good finds! Legendary and To Kill A Kingdom are supposed to be fab
I look forward to reading both of those!
So many celebrations for you and your family!
I haven't read Legendary yet, but I hear great things from everywhere.
I have seen great reviews so I couldn't resist the sale price.
Yay! I hope you enjoy To Kill a Kingdom. I'm curious to compare our thoughts once you are done. The cover of Smoke and Summons looks cool.
It might be a while before I get to To Kill a Kingdom but it will happen someday.
To Kill A Kingdom looks so so good! Cant wait to see your thoughts on that one. Happy reading!
Thanks!
I was having trouble choosing the two Kindle First books this month too. However, I am sure that will be one I pick. I hope you enjoy To Kill a Kingdom. I know a lot of people love it but it didn't work for me. Great job on reading so many books so far.
Oh no! I hope I have better luck with it, Barb.
Sounds like you're off to a good start.

Thanks, Sherry!
Happy birthday to your husband and your daughter! Such close together birthdays and I love January birthdays because I have one too. I am glad you had a light and easy beginning to the year. I read To Kill a Kingdom last year and enjoyed it a lot! It's a good retelling. But the ending was a bit too wacky for me.
Happy Birthday to you, Olivia-Savannah!
I love your new books. I have only read one book for the new year. I haven't had much of a chance to read in the new year. I am trying tho. Happy belated birthdays! Have a great week.
Mary
Sorry I missed this post. Happy New Year. ?
