The republic faces annihilation, despite the vigilance of Galharrow’s Blackwings. When a raven tattoo rips itself from his arm to deliver a desperate message, Galharrow and a mysterious noblewoman must investigate a long dead sorcerer’s legacy. But there is a conspiracy within the citadel: traitors, flesh-eaters and the ghosts of the wastelands seek to destroy them, but if they cannot solve the ancient wizard’s paradox, the Deep Kings will walk the earth again, and all will be lost. The war with the Eastern Empire ended in stalemate some eighty years ago, thanks to Nall’s ‘Engine’, a wizard-crafted weapon so powerful even the Deep Kings feared it. The strike of the Engine created the Misery – a wasteland full of ghosts and corrupted magic that now forms a No Mans Land along the frontier. But when Galharrow investigates a frontier fortress, he discovers complacency bordering on treason: then the walls are stormed, and the Engine fails to launch. Galharrow only escapes because of the preternatural magical power of the noblewoman he was supposed to be protecting. Together, they race to the capital to unmask the traitors and restore the republic’s defences. Far across the Misery a vast army is on the move, as the Empire prepares to call the republic’s bluff.
I haven't read it but the plot does sound quite interesting. Hope you will get to enjoy it at some point!
I shuddered at the thought of the raven tattoo ripping itself from his arm. Painful!
It does sound dark, and really good. This is a new to me title. I hope you like it when you get to it. If you do, I'll have to read it too!
I'm really curious to hear your thoughts on this one. Great cover – very Cass approved.
New to me. Hopefully you get to it soon.
This sounds thrilling. I can see why you added it. And a new author for me to check out:)
Oh this one is new to me
Haha, we were on the same wavelength for what caught our eye this week. Your fantasy pick does sound fab. I have a feeling it will be great.
It was very interesting. I reviewed it when it was released, in fact I just got book 3. It is GRIM and DARK. It is the kind of fantasy where I do often prefer audiobook because it can be hard to read, but I am reading this series and it is going fine. The author is on Twitter and is quite fun.

It does sound good! Like a cross between LoTR and GoT. ?✨
You've got a spammer on your linky. Ha ha. That's the first time I seen that. ?
I think that is actually an ad because I am using the free version of InLinkz. It has popped up during a couple of weeks that had this many link ups. I hate it but I have not found a free version that would be any better and this is not a time in my life that I can really start paying for such a service.
Ah, I've never seen that before. I like it better than having to sit and watch and ad for ten seconds before the link kicks over to a blog. At least we have a choice. ?
I've never seen this one before.
I liked it enough to want more
