My husband has received a job offer but he hasn’t started yet and the fact that his start date was just pushed back makes me very nervous. I am trying really hard not to get myself too worked up about all of these things that I have no control over.
My reading was a bit strange for the month. My total is up but I feel like I had a really hard time reading. My focus was a big issue and I ended up deciding just to read or listen to whatever book fit my mood.
May should be an exciting month for our family as my youngest daughter finishes high school. I am trying not to miss any of these last important moments.

I hope it will be ok for the new job…
Hope everything works out well for you in the end. But what is " This means that I have not bought a book for the entire book " ? I think you mean month, but just wondering
Thanks for catching that for me. That is exactly what I meant. I fixed it π
I hope the new job works out and heβs able to start soon. Congratulations to your daughter! Have a great May!
Aj @ Read All The Things!
Ugh so sorry about your husband but hope the new job starts soon and you can worry less. So exciting for your daughter. WOW you read a lot of books! Some up there I enjoyed and some I need to read. Oh man so j you have The Bride Test – can't wait to see what you think!!
I'm sure it's hard on your husband's nerves (yours, too) waiting for the new job to start, but I'm also sure he'll start soon!
I wanted to read a biography that wasn't political in May. I ended up with Frederick Douglas's memoir, and I've already started it. History isn't my strong suit, so it's a stretch for me, but I'm finding it super interesting (and sad and horrific in places).
Huh, my comment disappeared. I sure hope your husband can start the new job soon. I imagine that is why you are struggling somewhat to concentrate on reading.
hope things get better. i have had a rough month too. hope this summer brings all of us a fresh outlook.
sherry @ fundinmental
You read a lot of interesting books. π
Yeah, that kind of upheaval will gnaw at you. I remember a whole summer when my husband was on strike and only getting strike pay and then two different jobs that cut his wages and hours in the recession. It's tough. I know you're hanging in there, though.
Neat to be there for her graduation milestones.
You did great with your reading all things considered. Several were good for challenges and they all count as finished and off the shelf. π
Have a great May, Carole!
I hope there is nothing weird with his new job. Fingers crossed! No worries
Hopefully things will get back to normal soon for you.
I hope your husband gets to start his new job soon. I know how harrowing that can be.
WOW! You DID read a lot this month. I just want to post twice a week for May. That's my goal. π
I hope by your next wrap up, we hear that your husband is working. I can only imagine how stressful it all is. Last month of high school! Isn't it unreal! I finished TBT yesterday – LOVED it! Hope you love it too.
such a stressful month, hopefully may will be a bit better for you. A lot of excitement in April as well.
Wonderful reading month on top of it. I find if you read what you are in the mood for, you tend to read faster
I hope it all works out. You did a lot of reading despite the odds.
The Bride Test is my most anticipated read for 2019! I hope you love it! How it Feels to Float was my CWW a few weeks ago. I'm excited to start The Unhoneymooners, too. <3 It looks like you were able to accomplish a lot in April! It was a meh reading month for me. I hope May treats us well. π
Lindsi @ Do You Dog-ear? ?
I hope that you enjoy Bride Test….such a great book.
I am sorry to hear about your husbands job though, hope his new job starts up soon!! It can cause so much stress though. Hope May is a better month for you and your family.
It certainly was a tough month for you guys and I hope this situation with the new job gets resolved soon. Hopefully it is just an admin thing and nothing serious, fingers crossed. I think you did well to get any reading done with all that going on.
Yes it is so hard to read when have a lot to worry about.
I was down this month with more happening. I hope this month goes very well for you! You did read lots of great books!
Anne – Books of My Heart
Oh man, I really really hope your husband starts soon. The wait must be so frustrating. I hope you guys can manage in the mean time :/ I'm here to talk if you need to!
Genesis @ Whispering Chapters
Maybe it is a good thing you didn't spend on books because now your TBR pile is 16 books smaller! But I really hope the new job starts soon and things go well. Sometimes tight financial months can be such a struggle :/ Hoping the best for you and the family!
I'm impressed that you were able to get any reading done with all that upheaval. I hope your husband's job starts soon. Trying not to get worked up over easier things you can't control is easier said than done but I hope you can relax some. Enjoy your daughter's graduation and I hope May is a wonderful and a far less stressful month!
