This week’s neglected book

Letters to the Lost by Brigid Kemmerer

Series: Letters to the Lost #1
Publication Date: April 4, 2017
Publisher: Bloomsbury USA Childrens

Juliet Young always writes letters to her mother, a world-traveling photojournalist. Even after her mother’s death, she leaves letters at her grave. It’s the only way Juliet can cope.

Declan Murphy isn’t the sort of guy you want to cross. In the midst of his court-ordered community service at the local cemetery, he’s trying to escape the demons of his past.

When Declan reads a haunting letter left beside a grave, he can’t resist writing back. Soon, he’s opening up to a perfect stranger, and their connection is immediate. But neither Declan nor Juliet knows that they’re not actually strangers. When life at school interferes with their secret life of letters, sparks will fly as Juliet and Declan discover truths that might tear them apart.

Why did I add Letters to the Lost to my bookshelf?
I caught this book on Book Outlet at a great price.  Since I have heard wonderful things about the book, I felt like it was a pretty safe bet.  Unfortunately, it has just sat on my shelf.  The author is in town tonight to promote her newest book, A Heart So Fierce & Broken, so I plan to try to get it signed.  Then I will have to read it, right?

What are your thoughts? Have you read this book?  Would you recommend it to others?

  1. I seriously LOVE this book. I'll have to contain myself because I think I could get carried away and leave a five paragraph comment about it. LOL Not only did I love everything about it, but it also introduced me to one of my favorite fictional characters ever: Rev. He is a secondary character in this book and gets his own story in More Than We Can Tell. I hope you'll love this when you get to it, Carole!

  2. Oh yes, get it signed and it will stare at you really hard from the shelf not to mention that extra oomph of guilt for not reading a signed book. LOL

Have fun at the signing, Carole!

  3. I had always been curious about this one and almost checked it out from the library once. You know I never realized that it was from the same author who write A Curse so Dark and Lonely.

I've had this book on my TBR forever! I completely forgot about it. I don't own it though, so I might see if I can find it on audio. If you end up reading it I'd like to know what you think!

  5. I hope you had fun at the signing! I definitely think you should read it. I want to give this author a try at some point. Her books seem to be very popular among book bloggers.

  6. I've also picked up this books some time ago from Book Outlet and still haven't read it. I did hear that it was a wonderful book. Enjoy meeting the author and having it signed. I'm sure you'll also bring home her new book 🙂

  7. I LOVED the curse so dark and lonely series so far, both books one and books two. So I need to go back to her backlist contemporaries too and read this one in particular which I have heard amazing things about!
