Stacking the Shelves #230

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.

My Life
I guess that I have been in a bit of a funk this week.  It feels like I am stuck in some kind of weird limbo and I am never going to be done with the sale of my former home.  This was the week that our buyer had to ask for us to do any repairs that they wanted.  We have put so much work into the house and our previous buyer had no requests so I expected the same.  We received their list and admit that I am rather annoyed by the whole thing.  They wanted us to hire licensed plumbers and electricians to do simple tasks that my husband and I could easily complete.  I really just want the whole thing to be over.
Work has been rather busy which makes it hard to get everything done I need to do at work.  Plus, putting my headphones on to listen to a book while a work proved to be next to impossible.  I also had a headache for much of the day for a couple of days this week which always makes the day less pleasant.
I did not keep up with the blog as well as I had hoped to this week.  I probably won’t be posting 6 days per week like I had done before the moving process began for a while because I have been reading so slowly.  I guess I am really still figuring things out.
What I’m Reading
Once again, I was only able to finish one book this week.  I finished listening to The Tory by T.J. London and enjoyed it but was a bit surprised that it didn’t wrap things up better than it did.

I am still reading All About Us by Tom Ellen and have made very little progress this week.  For some reason, I just really haven’t felt like picking a book up lately.  I decided to start listening to Southern Spirits by Angie Fox since I was in the mood for a lighter listen.  I have read the book before but decided to give the audio a try before moving further in the series.

Books Added

The Burning Girls by C.J. Tudor (NetGalley)

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own STS post!

  1. Picky buyers must be a nightmare when you just want it all done. Part of me wants to move away from here but the other part dreads all the legal stuff involved in it! I'm struggling to get anything much done. Motivation is a real issue this year!

  2. Sorry you having "a week". The stuff with the house sounds frustrating. Fingers crossed it will all be wrapped up soon. I have never listened to a book that I had read in the past. I wonder how the experiences would compare?

  3. Oh bummer. I had hoped this would've been a smoother sale process for you. Yeah, I'm battling a killer headache myself and a sore throat from yelling too much. So naturally, today, my nose is acting up. So apparently if I yell too much I give myself a cold. Where's the logic in that?!

Nice new read too! That's a new to me one. I hope you enjoy it!

  4. It is so frustrating selling a house and going through all the tedious steps to completion, especially when they seem totally unnecessary! Good luck getting through them…and then, finally, enjoy settling into your new house.

Your books look good…here are my MY WEEKLY UPDATES

  5. I hate when people get knit picky over small repairs and making you hire someone when you could do it yourself is just horrid. Hope you can get things done and get that house out of your hare and you can relax!

Have a great week and happy reading!

I'm sorry things are so difficult right now. As for the blog, no worries. I honestly don't think six days a week is necessary. For now, do what you can mange. I think 3 or 4 days a week is good. Not that I've been accomplishing that, lol.

  7. I'd be irritated by a new long list of repairs and upgrades, too. Hopefully it will be over soon. Too bad about the headaches that made it miserable few days. Yeah, The Tory ending had me itching to keep going then and there because of where it left things.

    Have a good week, Carole!

  8. I'm sorry it was a frustrating week. I think we are all kind of tired of everything. I was glad to have better (cooler) weather to get on to the yard work I wanted but it is exhausting. This week I got into too many distractions and reacting to things and hopefully I can focus and control more stuff next week. But when your daughter needs an urgent appt you have to react. (She's fine). So here's to a smooth week with great reading!

  9. How absolutely frustrating! And if your area is like mine at the moment licensed plumbers and electricians are almost impossible to connect with and cost the earth. Hopefully this will be over soon and you can relax a little! Have a great (and calmer) week!

  10. Oh goodness, I’m sorry that the sale is dragging on. I wish the buyers were being more reasonable.

I keep checking my library hoping they will get Ellen’s All About Us but so far nothing. 🙁
