I am really excited to participate in The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Reading Reality.

My Life

I am trying to adjust to my new normal of juggling my full-time job, my part-time job, my household responsibilities, and the blog. I think that I did well keeping up with everything except for comments and blog hopping. I am going to do my best to catch up with everyone as soon as I can. I am working 3 shifts per week at the bookstore which isn’t bad. On the nights that I work, I go straight from one job to the next and straight to bed when I get home so there is no time for really anything.

One major benefit of working at a bookstore is the access to books! I can now download around 90% of what is listed on Edelweiss without having to make a request. I had my NetGalley type changed from reviewer to bookseller and had all of my pending requests (some were months old) approved within hours. I am going to try to read what I have for now and just download books as I am ready to read them.

I really don’t have anything else to report since all I did was work and try to get some reviews written this week. Learning a new job is exhausting. I am a fast learner so I am sure that it will seem much easier before long.

How was your week?

What I’m Reading

I read 4 books this week. If it wasn’t for audiobooks, that total might have been zero! I thought Legends & Lattes by Travis Baldree was great and now I understand the hype surrounding this book. I had a rough start with Masters of Death by Olivie Blake but I found it enjoyable overall. Omen of Ice by Jus Accardo was an incredibly exciting fantasy filled with great characters. I have mixed feelings regarding The Last Girls Standing by Jennifer Dugan and was rather let down by how the book ended.

I am currently reading 2 books. I am almost halfway through Thornhedge by T. Kingfisher and am really enjoying it. It is a short novella so I might be finished by the time you are reading this post. I am at the midpoint of Jezebel by Megan Barnard and am a bit surprised by how much I like it.

Books Added

Long Past Dues by James J. Butcher (Publisher); A Demon’s Guide to Wooing a Witch by Sarah Hawley (Publisher); Housebroke by Jaci Burton (Publisher)

Death in the Dark Woods by Annelise Ryan (Publisher); The Trap by Catherine Ryan Howard (Publisher); Unnatural Death by Patricia Cornwell (Publisher)

  1. It seems almost dangerous for a reader/review to become a bookseller too! All that access to all those books! But yay! Glad you’re learning the way of things pretty quickly and are enjoying it as much as you can for a second job!

Nice new reads! Those are new to me ones but I’m excited to see Hawley’s book! I mean I still have to read the first one that I have to make sure I will like the series but it’s one I feel confident about! Lol. Hope you enjoy all the lovely new reads!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower 🙂

  2. I’m sure you get everything to fall into place soon. I don’t know that I could even work away from home now. I’ve become dependent on having Apollo as a coworker. And I was so grateful I could be home with Cass for his last 3 years. You read some great books and I see a few I want to grab. Have a great week!

  3. Hey, if you have to work multiple jobs, it’s great that there are some perks. I am curious about that new Burton book. That illustrated cover makes it look all adorable, but her books can toe the line between romance and erotica. Interesting in hearing your thoughts.

  4. I think its quite impressive that you’re tackling the second job and extras so well already. I’m sure you’ll find your groove soon. Legends and Lattes looks fun. That’s interesting how changing your status on the book sites to ‘bookseller’ changed so much. LOL, now you have more to read. 🙂

    Have a good week, Carole!

  5. That is cool about the book access. I never thought of that! I’m curious about the Catherine ryan howard book as I’ve read one of hers before, and Death in Dark Woods looks fun!

  6. Goodness you sound crazy busy! That is an awesome perk for your part time job though I think I would get in some serious trouble with my book downloading! Have a great week!

  7. Wow, you are busy! It’s nice that you get automatic approval for the books, but I imagine it would be hard to get to them all. I hope you get some rest and reading time, Carole!

I have my eye on The Trap and I’ve enjoyed Patricia Cornwell’s Scarpetta series. Hope you enjoy them!

  8. I know what you mean about so much to juggle and never enough time. I’m just now starting to find a balance but that can change in a second.

  9. You are one busy woman! What a dream to be working in a bookstore! Especially with more access to and time around books. I imagine it is very tiring though, juggling the two jobs. The local indie bookstore is in their new location and will be opening soon. It’ll be closer to where I live, in an area I am more likely to frequent, and so, in other words, dangerous. LOL

I am glad you are enjoying Jezebel. I hope you continued to do so! I have that one on my TBR. I also really want to read Legends & Lattes. I hope you enjoy all your new books!

    Have a great week, Carole!
