I am really excited to participate in The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Reading Reality.

My Life

This past week proved to me that I am old. I work my full-time day job Monday through Friday and then spend some nights working at Barnes & Noble. Last weekend, I worked Friday night, Saturday, Sunday, and again on Tuesday. I was so tired Monday night that I crashed around 8:00 pm and Wednesday night, I didn’t want to do anything. My schedule seems much more spaced out moving forward which is a very good thing.

I am still working on getting around to everyone’s blogs this week. I promise that I have not forgotten about you. I really appreciate everyone for sticking with me.

How was your week?

What I’m Reading

I read 5 books this week. I started the week by finishing The Dirt on Ninth Grave by Darynda Jones and thought it was an excellent addition to the series. I then switched gears to romance with Skip to the End by Holly James which was a fun listen. Boyfriend by Sarina Bowen was just as good as I had hoped it would be. I had a great time with the characters in Change of Plans by Dylan Newton. End of Watch by Stephen King did a wonderful job of wrapping up the Bill Hodges trilogy.

I am currently reading 3 books. I am a little further than halfway through Assistant to the Villain by Hannah Nicole Haehrer and am loving it. I have listened to 25% of Conspiracy in Death by J.D. Robb and can’t wait to see Eve solve this case. I adore Sarah Lyons Fleming’s books so I downloaded a copy of World Without just as soon as it became available yesterday and have only read a few chapters but cannot wait to get back to it.

Books Added

Assistant to the Villain by Hannah Nicole Maehrer (Purchased); Late Bloomer by Mazey Eddings (Publisher); The Trail of Lost Hearts by Tracey Garvis Graves (Publisher)

A Grave Robbery by Deanna Raybourn (Publisher); World Without by Sarah Lyons Fleming (Kindle Unlimited)

  1. What a lovely post, and my you are busy, young lady! How you do it is beyond me. Now that I have the bookstore, I find the only teaching I have time for is mini-courses I want to teach AT the bookstore. There are about twelve courses I’ve created, ranging from 1 and 1/2 hours to six weeks (twice a week/2 hours each), which I can hardly wait to offer. So far, I’ve only held one, but it was very successful. I haven’t taught at UHCL since this past spring–no time! LOL

  2. I can imagine working a part time job alongside your full time job making things chaotic and exhausting! Hope things get a little easier for you in that area!

Nice new reads! Those are new to me ones but I hope you end up enjoying each and every one of them!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower 🙂

  3. Hang in there, Carole. I don’t think I would be able to work two jobs. I was happy to see you enjoyed Boyfriends and Change of Plans (a favorite of mine). I did not download Skip to the End, but I still want to read it. Glad to see you enjoyed it. I had no idea Eddings had another book coming out. She’s a writing machine.

  4. Oh yes starting a new job can be so exhausting sometimes. I hope you are able to find a balance for yourself where you aren’t so tired. And love seeing a Sarina Bowen on your list there. Hope you have a great week!

  5. I love the cover of Rook and I hope you get in the groove with your new schedule soon. I am excited to get my hands on Assistant to the Villain. Hope you love it! Also hope the pups are doing ok.

  6. Yeah, that is a busy work schedule so I am not surprised your body put the brakes on once you got home. Good that the extra hours will be spaced better in future. No worries if you have to limit your blog visiting . Yay for getting through so many books. That Tracy Garvis Graves looks good and yay for a new Deanna Raybourn.

  7. I think anyone, young or old would be tired with your schedule! Happy to hear you’re getting more spaced out shifts. I hope you get some rest! Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

World Without looks interesting! I’ll go and check it out.

  8. Working two jobs is tough! I had to laugh at your first sentence. that’s a lot of hours. I’d be exhausted too. Hope you get a bit of a break going forward…

Your books look fun! Have a great rest of the weekend!

  9. I’ve been feeling my age set in as well. After my husband’s health scare in June, we’ve both been on the path to taking charge of our health through better diet and exercise. I’ve settled into the routine of doing 2.5 miles every morning, and I’ve lost about 20 lbs so far. This week, though, an old knee injury from my college days has returned with a vengeance! My poor joints aren’t holding up to the new rigor of my daily fitness routine. It’s a sign to slow things down and rest in between.

  10. I think that schedule would do me in, Carole. I’d be ready to drop. Hope you’re taking care of yourself! I’m excited to start the upcoming Tracey Garvis Graves. She’s a longtime favorite.

  11. I think I need a nap just reading about your schedule! Hopefully your schedule works out to give you a little more downtime. A new Veronica Speedwell! I’m really curious to see where Deanna Raybourn goes with that series. Hope you’re having a great week!
