I am really excited to participate in The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Reading Reality.

My Life

When I wrote my weekly post last week, I thought that I was going to get a lot of things done this week. That didn’t happen. I can be rather spontaneous and when I woke up on Sunday, I decided that we needed to go to Ikea and pick up a few things. We spent the day assembling furniture instead of accomplishing the things that I had planned to do. But I have a new bookshelf and I actually have a table to eat on instead of the card table that I have been using for the past 3 years.

I spent the rest of the week working, walking the dogs, doing chores around the house, playing games on my phone, writing reviews. Hopefully, I will do a better job of balancing things out this week.

How was your week?

What I’m Reading

It was another week of only finishing audiobooks. I really don’t know what I would do without audiobooks. I finished Annie Bot by Sierra Greer early in the week and found it to be a an entertaining and thought-provoking read. The Bright Spot by Jill Shalvis was just as good as I had hoped it would be. Bless Your Heart by Lindy Ryan was a fun paranormal story with a lot of southern charm. One of Our Own by Lucinda Berry was a bit of a surprise and almost impossible to put down.

I did read some of The Night Ends with Fire by K.X. Song and I am still enjoying it. I just need to find my reading groove again. I can’t say the same for The Warm Hands of Ghosts by Katherine Arden but I do hope to get to it very soon.. I have listened to about 25% of Late Bloomer by Mazey Eddings and think that the story is off to a good start.

Books Added

The Murder After the Night Before by Katy Brent (Publisher); Girls with Bad Reputations by Xio Axelrod (Publisher); The Fixer Upper by Phoebe MacLeod (Publisher)

What books do you add to your shelves this week?

  1. IKEA really is a big commitment. The store is HUGE taking a while to get through, and please say you stopped in the cafe for some Swedish meatballs? Assembling the furniture is no joke either, but if you have experience, it can go well. Enjoy your new table and bookshelves.

    • Yay for a new bookcase and table! I really need a coffee table. I have never been to Ikea but I hear it’s a pretty impressive store to visit in person. It’s not close so it’d be a bit of a drive to get to. It looks like you read some good books! I like the sound of Bless Your Heart and he Warm Hands of Ghosts is on my wish list. I hope you enjoy all your new books, Carole! Have a great week!

  2. Well you were still productive at least! Lol. All kind s of different reader productivity, and bookshelves are important! Tables too! Lol. Hope you have a great week ahead!

Nice new reads! These are new to me ones but I hope you enjoy them all!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower 🙂

  3. Your plan may have shifted this week but the new bookcase and table sound great. Before we had an IKEA here, I used to go to the one in Orlando every time we were there. Now that we have one here… I hardly ever go. LOL

  4. I don’t know it sounds like a balance to me. You needed some of those things to support your life and you can only ignore it for so long. Audiobooks are the best! You are getting a real diverse set of reads. I always think I am diverse but not as much as you. I don’t read as much romance, horror, or literary fiction or very much historical. One of Our Own is going to be in my top 10 reads for 2024. Stunning.

Anne – Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post

  5. Ikea! I want to order some bookshelves since nearest Ikea is 4h by ship + smth to Ikea. 5 hours by Car to another. Dang ikeas being so far away. The ship one is closest but yes that is if u could drive

  6. I have blown my plans up for a whim so many times, lately. At least you have a nice shelf and table now. 🙂

I’ve seen a few favorable reviews for that One of Our Own. I’ll have to add it to the library list.

    Have a good week, Carole!

  7. Looks like you read some great books. I can’t wait to read Bless Your Heart. I don’t know why but I’m getting Sookie vibes from it. I’d reread that series but there are too many other books I’d like to get to. Glad you got some of your furniture needs met. That’s always fun!

  8. I’ve had a list of need to dos for several weeks now, but they keep getting shoved to the side. Yay for a table, though! It took us nearly three years to get ours, too. We moved into the house right as the pandemic was starting, so much of our furniture is also from Ikea.

  9. I keep having good intentions to get done this or that, only to find other things keeping me busy on the weekends. *sigh*

  10. A new bookcase and table are definitely good reasons to not get what you expected to get done! Audiobooks have saved my reading quite a bit lately. I get so much more read from listening! Your new books look good. I’ve read The Last Word and enjoyed it. I hope you’re having a great week!
