Stacking the Shelves #47

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews
This has been a pretty busy week.  My husband and I celebrated our 17th anniversary this week.  My daughter’s band had their Holiday concert which was really nice but took up an entire evening.   The cold weather has settled into my area and I don’t like it.  I am one of those people that really just wants to hibernate all winter under a blanket but I don’t guess anyone is really going to let me do that.

Digital Books

Justice Ascending by Rebecca Zanetti (NetGalley)
The Bone Witch by Rin Chupeco (NetGalley)
Love Story by Lauren Layne (NetGalley)

When I saw Lauren Layne’s book on NetGalley, I grabbed it right away.  I have been interested in The Bone Witch so when I got an email that it was listed as a Read Now on NetGalley for a limited time, I rushed to grab a copy.  The reviews on Goodreads seem a bit mixed but I am hopeful.

Print Books

Suicide Notes from Beautiful Girls by Lynn Weingarten (Book Outlet)
Riders by Veronica Rossi (Book Outlet)
The Outlandish Companion by Diana Gabaldon (Book Outlet)
The Outlandish Companion Volume Two by Diana Gabaldon (Book Outlet)
So we went a little crazy at my house shopping for books after Thanksgiving.  I was thrilled to get my order from Book Outlet early this week.  My daughter actually talked me into most of the books that we bought and has taken possession of those.  These four books are the ones that I just had to have.

The Fifth Petal by Brunoina Barry (LibraryThing Win)

I love book mail!  I was excited to find out that I won one of the LibraryThing Early Reviewer books.  This one looks good.  My daughter has her eye on it and may actually end up reading it before I get the chance.

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own STS post!

  1. This week I grabbed zombies, dinosaurs, fantasy, politics, urban fantasy, dragon zoo and mystery books…a nice mixture! I've entered a few book comps but don't expect to win and it's been a good reading week. Congrats on your anniversary!

  2. Congrats on your anniversary!! I haven't hauled any books in the past month or so… I'm successfully going through my buying ban. You got pretty good books though. I'd love to read your thoughts on Bone Witch!! πŸ˜€

  3. I am the same way when it starts to get cold. I don't want to leave the warmth of my fuzzy blankets. lol! I received the Lauren Layne book too and I can't wait to start it. I always enjoy her stuff.

Hope you have a great weekend!

    • I hate the cold. I had several years that I didn't work outside the home and I was able to stay in during the cold. I hate being out in it but I have to go to work every day so what can I do but dream of being home and warm!

  4. Happy Anniversary!! Congrats!! I'm enjoying the weather myself! LOL! I definitely prefer cold over the hideous heat! Although it doesn't help that my office is just as cold inside as it is outside!

Nice new reads! Sadly couldn't get into Bone Witch. I had been excited for it, but I don't know…I guess I just didn't click with the heroine. I hope you will enjoy it and your other reads once you read them!

My STS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!

    Have a GREAT day!

    • I grabbed The Bone Witch as soon as I received the email because I remembered being interested in it when I first saw it. After I downloaded it, I saw some less than flattering reviews. I will do my best with it.

  5. I got a couple of books for review this week and of course, I got my Book Outlet Black Friday haul so I've got that to share this week. Gah. So many books….

I hope you'll enjoy these, and Happy Anniversary to you and your husband. πŸ™‚

  6. Looks like you had an AWESOME week! I'm actually sort of sad–I requested The Bone Witch ages ago and was declined, so didn't even get the chance at it when it was on as a "Read Now". BOO. Oh well, I'll just wait like a good little book penguin until it's released.

Here's hoping you enjoy all your recent bookish acquisitions! I posted up my Stacking the Shelves this morning, if you're interested in checking it out. No pressure or worries if you're not, though! Either way, happy book-ing to you…and have a great weekend!

    • That Book Outlet sale was a tough one to resist. My daughter sat next to me with her own laptop and we added tons of books to our cart…then I had to cut the list back to something I could afford. It was fun!

  7. I just got Riders as well. I have an ARC of The Fifth Petal but found out I've never read book one. That reminds me, I need to grab it for my kindle. If you figure out how to hibernate all winter, please share your secret!

    • I saw that it was the second book last night when I did my post but after looking at some reviews, I think I will be okay just jumping into book two. It sound like they are both in the same world but not really a continuation of the story. I will have to see.

  8. Happy Anniversary – and so many great looking books to keep you occupied πŸ™‚ And I loved Riders by Veronica Rossi – I think it didn't get nearly enough attention on the blogsphere

  9. Congratulations on your 17th anniversary! I hope you had a good time celebrating it. Once again, a lot of books here and some sound really promising. Especially Suicide Notes From Beautiful Girls.
