Stacking the Shelves #69

Posted May 13, 2017 by Carole in Stacking the Shelves / 17 Comments

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews
This week was a pretty good week.  We went to my daughter’s band awards ceremony on Monday night and the school awards on Wednesday night.  She received quite a few awards and we are very proud.  Two pretty popular authors, Julie Buxbaum and Jeff Zentner, visited my daughter’s school on Wednesday and my daughter was asked to introduce them.  I was stuck at work but I would have loved to have had the chance to be there.  She did get a book signed and a couple of photos.

We did end the week with sickness and doctor’s appointments so please forgive me for being a bit behind.  I hope to catch up soon!

Digital Books

The Dead Will Tell by Linda Castillo (Kindle Purchase)
After the Storm by Linda Castillo (Kindle Purchase)
Son of the Morning by Linda Howard (Kindle Purchase)

I didn’t add any review books this week so that is a step in the right direction.  I have the other books in Linda Castillo’s series so I added two more while they were on sale.  Linda Howard is an old favorite for me so I added Son of the Morning when it was at a great price this week.

Print Books

Book of the Month – May

The Love Interest by Cale Dietrich
Since We Fell by Dennis Lehane
Into the Water by Paula Hawkins

I thought some of the Book of the Month selections looked good this month so I splurged a bit.

Book Fair Haul

There was a huge book fair in my area last week so my daughter and I spent last Saturday sorting through the goodies.  I found a few that I have been wanting to read for a while.  I could shop for books everyday!

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own STS post!

  1. That's a great book fair haul! So many great looking books, and I spot quite a few that I have on my TBR lol. I hope you love The Love Interest. That's one that I've been wanting to read. Hope you have a great weekend, and Happy reading! Hope you have a great mother's day too!

  2. I'm pretty sure I read Linda Howard's Killing Time many years back but I don't honestly remember what I thought of it! This week I'm all about apocalypse and politics in my small book haul! Have a great weekend!

  3. Niiice! I sooo wish authors would've made school visits in my day!! I would've loved it! Sadly YA wasn't as popular back then. Sigh…

And ooh you bought the ARC of Daughter of Smoke and Bone! I saw that there as well and debated about it. Was trying to think if any of my friends needed it for collecting purposes. But I didn't think they did so I left it. Sadly I came out empty handed. I guess that's the trouble with always preordering books! LOL! Hope you enjoy all the awesome new reads!

My STS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!

    Have a GREAT day!

  6. How awesome your daughter got to meet those authors at her school! I got Into the Water and Since We Fell. I wish I would have splurged on The Love Interest too as I keep hearing good things. Enjoy and have a great week!

  7. I adore Julie Buxbaum! I got to meet her in March at the NoVa Teen Book Festival and she actually knew my blog and who I was! I was impressed. Great book fair haul! I do miss book fairs. :/ I hope you enjoy all of your new books!

I got my first ARC from NetGalley last week and a book I've been wanting to read from the publisher. So it was pretty much a great week.

  10. It's so cool that your daughter got to meet those authors! And wow, that's a lot of books from the haul. The Time Traveler's Wife is one I have and have been meaning to get to myself eventually. And I have heard lots of good things about Lucky Boy as well. Happy reading πŸ™‚

  11. Wonderful haul. I hope you guys feel better soon. I started feeling badly yesterday but hope I can kick it before getting worse. Congrats to your daughter! Must have been fun for her to do the introduction.

  12. That's too bad you weren't able to meet the authors, at least your daughter did and was able to get books signed for you. Enjoy all your new books, you were able to get a great selection. I enjoy Harlen Coben and I have the second book that goes with the Lace Reader, at the time of purchase I didn't know there was a first book. I also can shop for books all day πŸ™‚ Happy Reading -J
