Stacking the Shelves #77

Posted July 8, 2017 by Carole in Stacking the Shelves / 27 Comments

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality
I have had a great week off from work.  The 4th of July has been a bit of challenge since we have a dog that is terribly afraid of fireworks.  They are illegal where I live but that doesn’t stop anyone from shooting them off every single night…and sometimes during the day.  I have had a great time with my family but have not done so well at keeping up with all of my blogging friends.  Life should start to get back to normal next week….I hope.

Digital Books

When I Am Through with You by Stephanie Kuehn (First to Read)
Spellbook of the Lost and Found by MoΓ―ra Fowley-Doyle (First to Read)
The Luster of Lost Things by Sophie Chen Keller (First to Read)
Lucas by Sawyer Bennett (NetGalley)

Once again, I went a little crazy with the last First to Read offer.  In my defense, the books looked so good I couldn’t help myself.  I grabbed Lucas as soon as I saw it on NetGalley since I am a huge fan of the series.

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own STS post!

  1. I don't like fireworks at all so I have great sympathy for what dogs go through. I hate our stupid Bonfire Night here which is all piles of stupid. Why do we celebrate convicted terrorists with a failed plot??? Pointless. This week I have apocalypses, urban fantasies, cozy mystery, horror and historical vampires to enjoy. Have a great weekend!

  2. I guess I was a heavy sleeper during the Fourth festivities. I remember hearing some crackers or whatnot but nothing major. Which is odd, because we can usually see them going off somewhere in the distance. It's like getting a show for free! Not this year though.

Nice new reads! I'm curious about Doyle's new book but I still want to read her first one before I try her new stuff since I've never read her before. Hope you enjoy the new reads!

My STS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!

    Have a GREAT day!

  3. Wow! You hit the First to Read jackpot. They send the email for requests when I am at work, and I normally cannot get any books, but you got one of my faves from this year – Spellbook. Loved it! I am really jealous that you got Lucas. I am a super Cold Fury fan. I can't wait to hear what you think.

  4. Spellbook of the lost and found looks amazing. And I'm sorry to hear about your dog, I know what it's like to have a dog afraid of stuff.. except mine is afraid of the rain.
Hope you have a lovely week πŸ™‚
    Here is my STSΒ

  5. Once again it looks like we grabbed a lot of the same books. I already have The Luster of Lost Things but got it through Netgalley. I didn't really care for the last books Kuehn wrote so I'm hoping this one is better. Nice haul. It rained the two nights following the 4th which cut down on idiots in the 'hood letting off fireworks – thank heavens.

  6. Great haul, Carole. Looking forward to reading your thoughts on these. I tend to overdo it when i get emails from publishers as well, so i get you. πŸ™‚

    happy reading!

  7. The 4th of July was kinda crazy around here too with people down the street shooting them off for days. I do feel bad for the dogs. And The Spellbook of Lost and Found I've seen several good reviews on, hope it's good.

  8. Great haul! I'm trying really hard to stick to my book requesting freeze. I really wanted to check out Spellbook of the Lost and Found but I told myself no. lol! Can't wait to see what you think of it. Hope you have a great week. Happy reading!

  9. Great haul! I hope you wind up loving them. Sorry the holiday is so stressful for your dog. I had a dog who was like that on the holidays. It's hard. πŸ™

  10. Pssssshhhhhhh, you're doing fine! Every time I go on First to Read I'm like naaaaaahhhh, I don't want anything. So you and I balance each other. πŸ˜€ I considered guaranteeing the new Fowley-Doyle book but then I decided against it, since I'm way behind on review books right now. I do want to read that book eventually though. I hope you enjoy all of your new books!

Have a fabulous week, Carole. =)

  11. I gave up on NetGalley. I'm so far behind on book reviews that I don't even look at it unless there's something I really want. You have way more self-control and dedication than I do.

    Enjoy your new books. πŸ™‚

  12. Spellbook of the Lost looks amazing! Plus, I just love the title. I'm sorry about your neighbors. I'm very glad that fireworks don't bother my dog and my neighbors are pretty considerate. We might have people shooting them a couple of days before and the day after but that's about it and it's never particularly late. My sister in law's dogs are terrified and she has a pretty bad time of it. She says she doesn't mind it so much on the 4th because she can prepare but day in and day out gets really old really fast. Have a great week!

  13. When I am Through With You is one I have read the synopsis of and it sounds pretty haunting and creepy. I hope you will like it a whole lot when you read it ^.^
