Stacking the Shelves #86

Posted September 9, 2017 by Carole in Stacking the Shelves / 64 Comments

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.

My thoughts go out to everyone dealing with severe weather right now.

This was a short week at work.  I had Labor Day off and ended up taking a sick day on Thursday because of a migraine.  On Wednesday, we ordered my daughter’s class ring which was exciting.  On Friday night, we cheered the band on during the half-time show at the home football team.

I got a lot of reading done over the Labor Day holiday which made me very happy.  This weekend, I am really exciting about watching Outlander.  I feel like I have been waiting forever for the new season to start and will probably be slightly obsessed by the series for the next few weeks.

Digital Books

Blood Guard by Megan Erickson (NetGalley)
A Plague of Giants by Kevin Hearne (NetGalley)
The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen (NetGalley)
Her Darkest Nightmare by Brenda Novak (Amazon Purchase)
Side Jobs by Jim Butcher (Amazon Purchase)
Highland Hellion by Mary Wine (Amazon Purchase)

Audiobooks

Fire Touched by Patricia Briggs (Audible Purchase)
Storm Raiders: Age of Magic by P.T. Hylton & Michael Anderle (For Review)
The Duke and I by Julia Quinn (Audible Purchase)

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own STS post!

  1. I'll be interested to see what you think about A Plague of Giants as I haven't heard a lot about the book so far. I only picked up a few apocalypse books this week but my tbr pile ain't going down any! Have a great weekend!

  2. I had a crazy week as well after the holiday, super glad it's over though! Because of all the crazy I hardly read at all and it makes me feel icky inside! Lol! Totally weird I know!

Nice new reads! Totally new to me ones! Hope you enjoy them all!

My STS will be up tomorrow, so be sure to stop by then if you can!

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower 🙂

  3. I'm so glad you had the chance to get lots of reading done. It's nice to have a good reading week 🙂
Great haul this week, I can't wait to read your thoughts on Storm Raiders, it looks really cool.
I hope this weekend is just as great for you 🙂
    Here is my STS

  4. I think I fist pumped when I saw that Outlander was coming back tomorrow. It's been too long since we spent time with Jamie and Claire and last season messed with me in too many ways.

  5. I see you did get A Plague of Giants too. Yea!! A class ring, how exciting. I still wear mine as it was a gift from my grandmother and I got one of the smaller, more dainty ones. Thursdays must have been headache day. I was off with a bad sinus one.

    • I wear my class ring every once in a while and I hope she wears hers a lot once it gets here. I decided to request A Plague of Giants after I saw that you got it so I can blame you I guess. I hope you are feeling better!

  6. Bummer about the headache, but yay that you had a great week otherwise. Nice stack of new ones. Blood Guard has me curious. I'll look forward to your thoughts on that one.

  7. I hope you are feeling better, Carole. I have a friend who suffers from migraines and they can really knock her out. It's awful. I got the first season of Outlander for Christmas this past year and I still haven't watched it. I really need to make time for it. I've never read the books and am not sure I will, but I do want to check out the show at least. Your new books look great, Carole. I haven't yet read Side Jobs, but I'm sure I will enjoy it when I do. I love the Dresden Files. Have a great week!

  8. Sounds like a nice week (other than the migraine)! I like high school football season being back, it's nice to go on a Friday night and see the band. Looks like a nice mix of books, especially Plague of Giants (love that title) and The Wife Between Us.

  9. I'm sorry to hear about your migraine. Those are so debilitating. I hope you're feeling better. You got some great books! I'm really curious about The Wife Between Us and the Brenda Novak. And the Duke and I is one of my favorites! I love Simon!

  10. I am ashamed to say I have Her Darkest Nightmare sitting on my bookshelf since last year unread. I also got an ARC of The Wife Between us, I am really excited about that one.
I am really interested in the A Plague of Giants. That looks so good, I gotta request it for myself. I hope this week finds you migraine free. How exciting about your daughter. Happy reading and have a good week!

    • I guess I missed Her Darkest Nightmare when it was on NetGalley last year so I grabbed it while was on sale. I couldn't resist The Wife Between Us and have my fingers crossed it will be a good read. My daughter is pretty excited to get her ring but it will take a while for them to make it.

  11. Great books! I didn't even know Kevin Hearne has been on Netgalley recently. I need to pay more attention.
I have Side Jobs in hardback, but I've only read one story out if it so far because I'm not very far along in the series.

    Have a great week!

  12. I haven't read any of these books but some of these authors are familiar to me. I LOVE Julia Quinn's writing and her book Mr. Winchester, I presume, so I hope you'll like the audiobook of hers that you got x

Good for you on the reading!!! I like the book haul, there are quite a few that I am curious about. I'm off to check them out now. 😉

Thank you for stopping by my Sunday Post.
