Stacking the Shelves #95

Posted November 25, 2017 by Carole in Stacking the Shelves / 44 Comments

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.

I wish all weeks could be like this one!  I had the week off from work which was really quite wonderful.  I really didn’t have lot of plans for my time off which was a lovely feeling.  Marching Band is still keeping me busy.  The football team at my daughter’s school just doesn’t seem to want to lose.  Last Saturday, I sat in the freezing rain to watch the game.  The team won and are playing in the State Championship game today.  After today, it will finally be over!

My birthday was this week so the family took me out to eat which was very nice.  I had a lot of quiet time this week to dedicate to reading.  I decided that I would try to read a book every day during my time off from work.  I am calling it Operation 9 Books in 9 Days and so far I am on track.  I have picked some rather short books to read but the 6 books that I have finished so far all needed to be read and reviewed so I do feel like I have accomplished something.  If I don’t get 9 books read, I should come close.

Books for Review

The Chalk Man by C.J. Tudor (First to Read)
A Short History of the Girl Next Door by Jared Reck (Blogging for Books)

I only picked up two books this week.  The Chalk Man sounds really good so I am really excited to get a copy from First to Read.  I have read about half of the book as I write this post and love it so far.  I couldn’t resist A Short History of the Girl Next Door when I saw it being offered on Blogging for Books.

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own STS post!

  1. Good luck on your 9 book challenge! I'm feeling pleased that I managed ONE! Still, better than none I guess! My tbr this week has had new apocalypse, zombies and sharks added to it with a bit of urban fantasy. Hope you enjoy the weekend!

  2. I am glad you had a great birthday and happy belated birthday from me! It's so cool that the team are in the state championship and I am looking forward to seeing how the turnout of the game was. And 9 books in 9 days is quite a challenge! I hope you can manage to get it done πŸ˜€

  3. Happy Birthday! Hope it was a great day! I rarely can get a book read in 1 day. I guess I read slower these days! Lol! Because I do tend to read over every word! I know some bloggers have said they skim pages at time if it's slow going or something!

Hope you enjoy these newest reads!

My STS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!

    Have a GREAT day!

    • I can read a book in a day when I don't have other things to do. I don't skim or skip pages or even listen to audio at a faster speed. I sometimes even go back to re-read passages. I could only do this because I was on vacation.

  4. Sounds like a nice week!! I got The Chalk Man from Netgalley a few weeks ago, it does sound like a good one! πŸ™‚

  5. Happy birthday, Carole. I hope you had an awesome one. And good luck with your Operation 9 books in 9 days. One book a Day is amazing. I would never do it as I’m a slow reader. Happy reading and have a wonderful weekend. ❀️??

  6. Happy Belated Birthday! Glad to hear you had a nice, quite, and productive week. I am crying just thinking about Short History. I hope you love it as much as I did (which is a lot). 9 books in 9 days, you go girl!

  7. Cass says Happy Belated Birthday! How awesome that you share the day. It's always good the football team is still winning but it stinks to sit in the freezing rain. I have Chalk Man as well and am excited to read it. Glad to hear you are enjoying it.

  8. A book a day for 9 days! That's a feat. It's amazing that you're on track! I don't think I could do it on the days I'm working, but off work – probably. Depends on the book, I mean if it's 600 pages, probably not πŸ™‚ but it sounds like you're doing fine, so that's awesome πŸ™‚
    Oh, and happy birthday!!

  9. Sitting in the rain watching a football game is NO fun and I have done it plenty of times. Lets just say I grew up with a dad that is a die hard fan, no matter the weather we would sit through it. Blizzards, hail, rain and heat like no other. So I definitely understand hehe

  10. Haha! I hope they win the State Championship game! Hope it's not going to rain or snow. Have fun reading the books you got!

  11. Happy Birthday! Glad it was a good one and that your whole week went well. That's funny about the football tam and that the band has to keep going to. Good for them though!

  12. Happy birthday! And yay for band season being over. That's quite a nice birthday present. I love Operation 9! I've got a bunch of novellas and short books that are sitting around waiting to be read. That sounds like a pretty great way to plow through a bunch of them. Have a great week!

  13. I hope you had a wonderful birthday, Carole! I hope you were able to read your 9 books in 9 days. That sounds like a great way to spend your week off. Both of your new books sound good! I hope you are having a great week!
