Stacking the Shelves #121

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.

My Life

I took a little break last weekend so this book haul actually covers the past two weeks.  Honestly, most of these books would have been on last week’s post since I only added one book this week.

We have spent some of the past two weeks getting our house back in order after the storm damage from our neighbors tree.  The new siding is up, the gutters are repaired, and the work is finally done.  Of course, it is never quite the way it was before but I am not going to stress over it since the damage was to the back of the house.

It is definitely feeling like summer around here and my husband has informed me that our pool is now ready for use so I am looking forward to some cooling off time in my near future.

Books Added

Wild Hunger by Chloe Neil (NetGalley)
Serpentine by Laurell K. Hamilton (NetGalley)
They Feed by Jason Parent (Kindle Purchase)
The Ones Who Got Away by Roni Loren (Kindle Purchase)
Cocktales by Various (Kindle Purchase)

I did add a couple of review books to the pile.  I am very curious about Chloe Neill’s new series so I decided to give it a try.  I kind of surprised myself by requesting the new Laurell K. Hamilton.  I am several books behind in the series and I hate books with snakes on the covers but I was talking to my sister about books and this one came up so I ended up requesting it.  I bought They Feed after reading a review over at Bark’s Book Nonsense. The Ones Who Got Away has been on my radar since it came out so I grabbed it while it was on sale.  Cocktales really needs no explanation 🙂

Uprooted by Naomi Novik (Audible Purchase)
Hello Again by Brenda Novak (Audible Purchase)
The Bourbon Kings by J.R. Ward (Audible Purchase)
Whiskey Beach by Nora Roberts (Audible Purchase)
Dark Places by Gillian Flynn (Audible Purchase)
A Study in Scarlet Women by Sherry Thomas (Audible Purchase)

I bought this nice pile of audiobooks during the 2 books for 1 credit sale last week.  All I can say is that I am a sucker for a sale.

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own STS post!

  1. A big yes to They Feed which is resting on my ereader! I was all about horror and apocalypse this week which was fun. My ereader is bursting at the seams so I need to start getting stuff off the thing!

  2. Glad to hear the work on your house is good and done!

Wow! You did good for two weeks! I really enjoyed Wild Hunger! I loved Chloe's Chicagoland Vampires and I feel like this new version is a great spinoff! It has that same Chicagoland flair but it still uniquely its own with a new cast of characters! Hope you enjoy all the new reads!

My STS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!

    Have a GREAT day!

  3. That's how my book acquisitions go- big pile one week and none the next. Balances out. You got some real goodies. I liked the Roni Loren and the Sherry Thomas books. Happy reading/listening, Carole!

  4. Glad you were able to get your house fixed. You had a great two week haul! Hope you enjoy them all! I am really curious about They Feed.

    Have a great weekend!

  5. I also got Wild Hunger and Cocky Tales. I already owned Uprooted by Naomi Novik and it is one of my favorite audiobooks EVER. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Anne – Books of My Heart

  6. I'm taking the weekend off! It might effect my reviews next week, but sometimes we just need a break. I've added Cocktales to my shelves, too! It's massive! I received Uprooted as a Secret Santa gift, but I haven't had a chance to read it.

  7. Yay for the pool! It was 90's around here the last few days (thankfully today it was cooler)so cooling off at the pool sounds good right now! Hope you have a great weekend! The new Chloe Neill does look good, and seems like I saw a good review for They Feed somewhere too. Happy reading!!

  8. I am looking forward to getting our pool up so we can enjoy it now that the temperatures are turning warmer. I am so glad to hear the work on your house is done. It must come with some relief for you, but as you said, it isn't quite the same.

Your new books all look so good! I hope you enjoy Uprooted. I read it and liked it–hopefully the audio will be good as well. I am really curious about Wild Hunger too, and am looking forward to that one. I'll be waiting to hear your thoughts on Hamilton's latest. I gave up the series quite a while ago, but I was quite fond of the series at one time.

I hope you have a great week, Carole!

    • I love Uprooted and am looking forward to a audio re-read at some point. I am a couple of books behind with the Anita Blake series but I still decided to try this new one….we shall see how that works out!

  9. Sounds like house stuff is keeping you but hopefully it's all settled now! A pool sounds heavenly. Perfect for this hot sticky weather. You had quite an audible haul! Whiskey Beach was one I really enjoyed and I hope you do too. Have a great week!

  10. I did read serpetine and A Study in Scarlet Women . I haven't tried the others though bu heard about them. happy reading!

  11. I hope you love A Study in Scarlet Women – it's one of my favorite series. Sadly, I gave up on the Laurell K. Hamilton series a long time ago!

  12. Glad to hear you're able to get things cleaned up and there wasn't more damage than that. I haven't read anything this week so far because I've had a stomach bug and haven't felt well.

  13. I got Cocktales too this week cause gotta support the Romance World. And I grabbed Uprooted this week as well, I've heard awesome things about that book. Happy reading!

  14. I don't want summer to come. I am not a fan of the heat, but I guess for those who enjoy the pool/beach it's a good thing. The whole idea behind Cocktales is unreal, but I love many of the authors involved in that project. I really liked The Ones Who Got Away. I have the second book, and need to get it on one of my weekly TBRs. I listened to The Bourbon Kings and loved it, but my library never got the other books. =/ I do want to finish that series though.

  15. Yay for everything being fixed and it being pool-worthy weather! It must be nice to have a bit of sun and to be able to enjoy the warmth and relaxation. I have Uprooted but haven't read it yet. I hope you'll enjoy it x
