Stacking the Shelves #189

Posted September 28, 2019 by Carole in Stacking the Shelves / 18 Comments

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.

My Life
Nothing too exciting this week.  My husband and I have both been extremely tired and have tried to go to bed early as often as possible.  We are such party animals.  Work got really busy during the second half of the week which is good because it makes the day go by quickly but the change in pace was quite abrupt.

Miss Piper is hard at work chewing on her toy.

We did get to see both of my daughters this week.  My new college student was close to home with a marching band performance and my oldest dropped by for a visit.  We decided against going to my daughter’s college for their family weekend.  It was going to be a hard trip anyway and we were having trouble finding anyone to check in with the puppy while we would be gone.  I think we are going to try to go see a home game in early October instead and just try to catch up on some rest this weekend.

Books Added

How to Love a Duke in Ten Days by Kerrigan Byrne (Won @ Delighted Reader)
When the Marquess Was Mine by Caroline Linden (Publisher)
The Library of the Unwritten by A.J. Hackwith (Publisher)
Rosemary and Rue by Seanan McGuire (Publisher)

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own STS post!

  1. Yeah it can be hard to try to do things when there's a puppy at home! I know with our two old dogs, we really can't have much of a family vacation anymore as my sister now has 2 kids and our old dogs require particular care what with medicines for one and them needing to be separated when they eat, because now the older one sometimes thinks he wants to eat his brother's food! Which he was never interested in a little over a year ago! Lol!

Nice new reads! I'm hoping to read Library of the Unwritten sometime soon as well! It sounds amazing! Hope you enjoy all of your new reads!

My StS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!

    Have a GREAT day!

  2. That's great that you got to see both girls.
Oh yay, the book got there already. Miss Piper looks intent on her chew toy.

    Have a good week, Carole!

  3. I think we need to be on that go to bed early plan. I have not yet read Seanan McGuire and I just have that first book also. I am about halfway through Library of the Unwritten and it's a slow start for me. I had to divert to some ARCs with blog tour dates. I hope this week is great after a relaxing pace this weekend.

Anne – Books of My Heart Here is my Sunday Post

  4. It must be challenging to leave town with three (?) dogs. My sister is always leaving her dog with us, so she can go places. Congratulations on the book win, yeah! Hope you enjoy all your new books.

  5. What an adorable photo of Piper! Yeah I can imagine it is challenging to go out of town when you have dogs. Our new neighbours are getting a pet sitter to look in on their rabbit and guinea pigs when they go on holiday.

  6. Getting away with a puppy at home is difficult. Nice to see she's chewing on his toy and not a shoe or furniture, lol! They seem to always find a beloved shoe to chew on somehow.

Oh, I hope you love How to Love a Duke in Ten Days! It's one of my favorite reads this year. Awesome you won it on a giveaway!

  7. Oh, tired weeks do happen it is so important to get some rest when they do come around! I am glad you were going to bed early and not pushing yourself to stay awake. And yay for getting to see both of the daughters ^.^

  8. It was kind of exhausting here as well. Supposed to have some home repairs done Saturday but the guy never showed up and we put all our Saturday stuff on hold until Sunday which made Sunday really busy! Piper is getting SOOOO big. Great pic!

  9. I hope you were able to get rest this past weekend, and work will calm down for you this week. It's been very busy at my work. But Friday wasn't was bad as I expected, fortunately. I actually got off on time–the first since I switched to working Fridays last month.I hope you enjoy your new books! I really liked Rosemary and Rue. 🙂 Have a great week, Carole.

  10. Puppies can be hard to leave for sure. and ooh Rosemary and Rue- I've been wanting to try those for a while- one of these days!
