We had some snow and some really cold days but there were a few nicer days thrown in that helped me see the light at the end of the tunnel. I did get my butt back to the gym and am working to get in better shape. I am getting older and having more aches and pains so I think it is important to keep moving.
I read a lot in January. I completed 19 titles but some of the books were really short so it isn’t all that impressive. I did tackle a fairly long book as well so maybe it does even out a bit. It was nice to start the year off so well but I don’t think that there is any way I will be able to keep up the pace for the rest of the year.

It's been quite cold here for months now, but still not snow . . . I'm sad because I love it and I always hope to see some every year, but it seems like it has decided to skip the visit this year ๐ Anyway, it really looks like you had a great month! I'm gonna check some of these books, there are a few I know I could enjoy! Thanks, Carole ๐
I would be happy with no snow. The only benefit that I can see is that I have had a few shorter work days due to the weather ๐
I admire you for getting to the gym so much. I really need to, but after 12.5 hours work/travel, my momentum just stops, and I can't do it. Good for you! And, hey, 19 books, and your stats are great too.
I completely understand, Sam. I don't think I could so those long days and do anything else.
I read a lot of short books this year too-I really need to get back into normal length books again. Some may be short but that is another 19 off your pile and they all count in the end!
I probably added more than 19 to my piles but it is all good.
Happy birthday to your husband and daughter! Itโs been freezing and snowing here lately. Iโm looking forward to warmer temperatures. I hope youโre having a great February!
Aj @ Read All The Things!
I will be very happy when spring finally arrives.
doing great in your challenges. i love how you put your post together. it's been a while since i did a monthly wrapup, but i hope to join in soon.
sherry @ fundinmental
Thanks, Sherry!
Oh wow, you did awesome! I have Dark Corners of the Night to read too! Can't wait! ๐
I do love the Unsub series. I am hopefully that Dark Corners of Night will be a great read.
Sensational reading month, Carole! And, I think that is fab that you are back at your gym workouts. I was forced to not do much for a few weeks with an infection and feel the extra burn from losing momentum not getting out for my daily walks or exercises.
Yay for one more percentage uptick at Net Galley and doing great on your challenges. I have a feeling I'm going to put Smoke Bitten on my favorites when I get the chance to read it. ๐
It is so easy to fall out of the habit. I am really trying to make myself go and keep it up!
19 books is a good amount.
It was more than I can usually accomplish. I doubt you will see these number again anytime soon.
Good for you for hitting the gym. I need to get back to taking regular walks. That fell by the wayside when the holidays started and I havenโt started back up. I think 19 books in awesome! I think I read maybe 7. ๐ Echoes Between Us and Heartland were also two of my January reads.
I had more time at home in January than I usually do. We shall see how February goes.
I have the Briggs to read!
It is such a good book!
Go you! The gym work is great!
Briggs!!
Thanks!
It looks like a great month with some wonderful books. I have Smoke Bitten but haven't read it yet. I did love The Secret Chapter also.
Anne – Books of My Heart
Thanks, Anne!
Wow, 19's great even if some were shorter! Glad you had a good month. And congrats on the stats too!
Love the cover of Smoke bitten. I need to get back to that series.
The Mercy Thompson series is such a good series!
Getting back to working out is something I'm trying to do too. I kind of slacked off the end of last year. I'm getting older too lol
We've had a mix of rain and snow but I cling to those sunny days!!

It is so easy to fall out of the habit of exercising. I am trying not to let myself do that!
Sometimes shorter books really are a blessing because it gives you a headstart going into the rest of the year without falling behind on reading goals. I am always thankful for the books I read with Eleanor and also my student groups because those give me breathing room so I do not panic about the ridiculous goal I set for myself for a given year.
I set my goals really low so I don't have to stress over anything. It is nice to get a jump start on things though.
19 books is awesome! Length doesn't matter. The short ones balance out the longer ones.
I've only recently started the Mercy Thompson series but I'm glad to know that it's still going so strong! Smoke Bitten is getting a lot of love at the moment. ๐
That's true! I did read one really long book so that does make up for the shorter ones. The Mercy Thompson series is one of my favorites. I wish I could read it again for the first time.
January is a great month to have a birthday in ๐ I also love that you were able to do so much reading. Sounds like a great way to kick off the year ^.^
Oh, dear! I hadn't realized I have been off the tracks with commenting for this long! You had a decent start to the year! That's wonderful. ???
