Stacking the Shelves #220

Posted May 17, 2020 by Carole in Stacking the Shelves / 21 Comments

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.

My Life
This was my second week of being in the office 40 hours since the pandemic began.  Our county’s stay at home orders will end on Monday so I will be interested to see if that will bring an increase in business or not.  I have already slipped back into my previous routine which consists of work, walking the dogs, and making dinner on a continuous loop.

My husband and daughter were finally able to get into my daughter’s dorm room and move her things back home.  It wasn’t an ideal semester but it worked out and she has a report card to be proud of.  The only other thing we did was pick up our order from a local food co-op that I belong to and drop off some groceries for my mother.

I hope everyone is doing well this week!

What I’m Reading
I feel like I actually got a lot of reading done this week!  I devoured Sure Shot last weekend and posted my 5-star review this week.  I also finished my audio re-read of Dark Heart of Magic, which I really enjoyed.  I was able to mark another old ARC off my tbr list by reading Pretenders.  I curled up with Days Since…: Jenny: Day 986 on Saturday morning and finished my audiobook listen of Sweet Revenge while doing a few chores around the house.

I haven’t actually started reading anything else at the time that I am writing this post but plan to read a chapter or two of Undone before falling asleep and am excited to dive into the audiobook of Bright Blaze of Magic just as soon as I can.

Books Added

Sisters in Bloom by Melissa Foster (For Review)

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own STS post!

  1. Sounds like, in some ways, life is starting to return to normal for you. Settling back into the old routine. I really loved Sure Shot, too. Bess and Tank were just so likable and so easy to pull for. I read Undone several years ago and really enjoyed it, but for some reason I never continued with the companion series.

  2. I am so far behind in the Brooklyn series. I have only read the first book (but own the other three). One of these days, I will read them. I am moving through my June books, so maybe I can just binge one week. Who knows! Congrats to your daughter on making it work and getting it done during quarantine.

  3. I'll be curious to see what life will be like tomorrow as well! I do plan to go to Kohl's on my way home because I've got too many returns I need to make from my online shopping spree and having things just not work out at all! Lol. Glad your daughter had a good first semester though and was able to get all her stuff from her dorm. I think my niece was told to take everything home with her when they closed the schools in March…so I'm hoping she grabbed everything! You never know with kids!

Oh wow!! I'm about to start Bright Blaze of Magic too!! Lol. I just finished Dark Heart of Magic last night and am really excited to see how this series will end! I've been forcing myself to pick up all my unfinished series before I let myself start any new ones from my TBR pile! There's like 6 or 7 I mentally set aside that have been in the TBR pile for too many years. Though I still should add another 2-3 to finish that are trilogies that I only read book 1 to!

Hope you enjoy all of your new reads!

    Here's my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

  4. I hope all goes well and that you stay safe.

We're nowhere near ready to open things up here, and as much as I sometimes complain about the lockdown frustrations, I want us all to stay safe.

Enjoy your books. I keep seeing Melissa Foster's books around, but haven't read any. Sisters in Bloom looks tempting. Here are my WEEKLY UPDATES

  5. I'm glad to hear you are settling back into the normal. It has to feel good to have that routine back!

We did a drive by college graduation ceremony for my cousin this week. It wasn't how we expected to celebrate, but I think it will end up being a really special memory for her.

  6. Bea

Sounds like a good week! Congrats to your daughter on her report card. I imagine she's happy to have reclaimed her things.

    Stay safe and happy reading!

  7. You're having a more normal week and pace to things. I'm happy your daughter did well with her schooling. It's certainly been great for your reading. I hate it when I finish my ebook and my audio the same day and have to start 2 new things at once, but it happens pretty often.

I hope you have a great week and stay well.

  8. I don't think much changed for us. My son and I stay home most of the time anyway. The only difference is we can't go to hockey with daddy like we used to and we don't take him to the store. The rest just feels sort of normal, minus the stress

  9. I worry so much about the restrictions being lifted. So many places that have are now seeing an increase in cases. It is terribly worrisome. But our idiot governor never even issued a stay at home order, and so many people go out without any mask, don;t follow directions in the store, etc.

I am glad to hear that your daughter's semester went well, that is great – especially considering the circumstances.

Stay safe and be well, friend.

  10. We are technically out of the stay at home order (though our governor basically said stay home unless it's necessary) but really in the last few weeks of it people were acting like it didn't exist. It's easy for us to stay home so we are for awhile longer. I'm glad your husband and daughter were able to get to her dorm room and yay for a great report card! Have a great week!

  11. Hope things go well with your county when the stay at home lifts! You did get a lot of reading done! Hope you get a lot more done. 🙂

  12. Scotland is still in full lockdown and though that might be changing soon, my dad and I have no plans to exit self isolation for a while yet. We are getting deliveries of everything we need so we're happy for the moment with that stuff. Stay safe at work!

  13. It's a bit strange to have things opening up, but I guess that was bound to happen. Hope your employer is taking steps to keep you all safe.

Looks like you got a lot of reading in! I need to continue the Sarina Bowen series as I love it.

  14. I hope everyone keeps following rules. I know our state starting opening up slowly in steps and it seems like they soon steamrolled it all. Congrats to you daughter doing so well with a year of college like hasn't been experienced before. Bet you're glad she was home though.

  15. Life is slowly but safely hopefully getting back to normal or at least somewhat living again. What great books you have on your list. I will be reading Sisters in Bloom very soon, and I can't wait. I hope you are enjoying that Zanetti Book….love her Sin Brothers.
