May 2020 Wrap Up

May 2020
May was the month that things started to look a little more normal.  I can say that since I didn’t really go anywhere other than work even before the pandemic.  I was required to go back to the office full-time at the start of the month and spent 8 hours in the office Monday through Friday.  It was a bit of an adjustment but once business picked up, it was easy to fall back into the routine.  I did take vacation time the last week of the month which was a wonderful and much-needed break.
I ended up reading 16 books during the month and, most importantly, really enjoyed what I read with one exception.  I didn’t have a lot of ARCs for books being published during the month so I spent the month being a mood reader and loved it!  I dusted off a few NetGalley books that have been lingering on my virtual shelves for years.  I also made an attempt to feature books I plan to read soon in my Books from the Backlog posts which has been motivating.

How was your month? Do you have any reading or blogging goals for June?

  1. I am telling you, Books from the Backlog has made me read quite a few backlist books. I think I have read all, but one of the books I featured. The book wasn't bad, I just wasn't in the mood. And, yeah for mood reading! I still sort of do that, even if I have ARCs. The only books I really prioritize are tour books.

  2. What an awesome month! I'm so happy to see you getting to backlog or library books you are just in the mood to read!

  3. Glad you're back in the swing at work and woohoo on a great reading month and getting to older books on the pile. Looks like you're doing pretty good with challenges, too.

    Have a great June, Carole!

  4. I kind of miss full-time office life. Seems like a weird thing now.
Jealous of your amazing reading month! Gonna look back on some of my Books from the Backlog posts to finally prioritize those books.

  5. Mood reading is the best. Its how I have gotten back into reading. I am neglecting ARC's because of it unfortunately but I don't want to get back into a slump again. So going carefully. Looks like you had a good month of reading here.

I loved Blind Faith so hope you enjoy that one there. Happy month to you for June!

  6. I think my goal for June is to get more reading done somehow but it might need to wait until later as my dad and I have a lot of other pressing matters to deal with. I just want to get my reading back to normal but I tend to become a sloth in summer so my hopes aren't high!

  7. That was an awesome reading month and it was nice you were able to get some backlist titles completed. It does seem like things are getting a tad more normal – well sort of. I still think the world sucks. Hope you have a wonderful June.

  8. Yay for great reading months! It looks like you read so many great books. I am glad you were able to take a week off from work. My husband and I took a vacation day last week and my husband has another one coming up this Monday. It was nice not having to worry about work even if just for a day. I hope you have a great June!
