A Quick Update!

Hello, everyone!
I apologize for disappearing for a bit.  I have had a hard time concentrating on reading and blogging with all of the events surrounding the murder of George Floyd.  Some of the things that have happened lately are just really hard to wrap my mind around.  We must do better.
And then there was this other little thing…
I bought a house.   This was kind of unplanned.  We have lived in the same house for almost 20 years and really had no plans to move.  We have always liked our house but have often wished it had a few features that it doesn’t.  One of the houses in our subdivision that we walk the dogs by daily was listed for sale and it has all of the things we wished our house had.  My husband and I decided to give it a shot.  I had to hurry up and get us pre-approved for a mortgage and schedule a time to see the house.  Everything moved very quickly with the house being shown for 2 days and offers due by 9pm on the second day.  The owner looked at the 6 offers she received and made a decision on Saturday.  I was thrilled that our offer won out against the others.
For the next couple of months…
I have 20 years’ worth of crap stashed in my current house that needs to be sorted and a lot of it needs to be purged.  I will have to get my house ready to sell while juggling inspections for the new house.  There is so much to do and a lot of stress involved.  I don’t think that I will have the time or energy to dedicate to reading and blogging as I would normally have but I have no plans to go away!  My plan right now is to continue posting Books from the Backlog every week, along with a weekly update, and reviews when I can.  I don’t believe that I will be able to keep up with daily posts or comments for a while but will do what I can.

I value every one of my readers and thank you for your patience during the next couple of months.

  1. Wow! Congratulations! Good luck with the packing. We had been in our home for 18 years when we moved, so I can relate to the struggle.

  2. That's great! The more you can go through and purge the less you have to pack. For me it was easier once I knew the house where I was moving so I knew what I would need and what could go. We will be here! How exciting!

  3. Congratulations on the new house! We did the same thing back in February, so I know how all consuming the process is.

  4. Ugh, packing! Good luck! But it is worth it in the end 😀 Also a chance to get rid of crap 😉

  5. Um congratuations-sympathies… LOL No, it will be great when you get through all the stress up front and get your things sorted and moved. Glad you found exactly what you wanted, Carole.

  6. Congrats on the new house, Carole! But I know how stressful the whole process can be. I hope it all goes smoothly and I’ll be looking forward to your updates as you have time for them. Try to remember to carve out a little time for yourself here and there!

  7. Congratulations on the house! We bought our house pretty much on a whim and it was such a crazy crazy time. I don't think I read for 3 months at all when all that was going on. Stay sane and good luck!

  8. Congrats! And… Best of Luck! And… Merry Packing! Almost a dozen years ago my hubby and I sold our house, downsizing from a 3000 square-foot, three-level house to a 400 square-foot fifth wheel recreational vehicle. And we needed to do it in about 18 days. So I *completely* understand where your focus is at the moment and can tell you without hesitation that ice cream sundaes help… a lot! Take care of yourself!

  9. Congrats on the new house! It's great to know you found a place with the things you wanted in the house! Excited for you and our family!!

  10. Congrats on the new house! Although moving always is a pain, it will be great once you live there and that's handy it's only a short move.

  11. very exciting. i can see how it will be a chore after living in one house for twenty years. funny how we manage to accumulate so much, bit it is a good time for purging those unnecessary and unwanted items and setting up a new household, all fresh and clean. have fun

  12. YAY for the new house, congratulations! Don't worry, it's completely understandable, you have a lot on your plate and we all need a break here and there. We are all cheering for you, and we'll be waiting for your posts whenever you feel like getting back to them 🙂

  13. Oh wow, a new housie to move into…how exciting! I don't envy you moving everything but think how great it'll all look when it's sorted.
